Was booked on Norway for Dec. 28 sailing but now on Victory . How do ships compare with food, service & other amenities. Have a standared outside with balcony.Does Victory dock in St. Martin or do you have to be tendered? Would enjoy hearing experiences from those who have cruised on the Victory.

I sailed on the Victory July 2001 to Canada and the Norway July 2002 to the Eastern Carribean. I must say that I disliked the Victory as a ship the most (in then) 5 cruises. However-I loved the Norway as a ship-but I thought the food on the Victory was far superior. I had the worst cabin steward of all on the Norway-the worst breakfast food I ever had was on the Norway-after the second day trying both the casual and formal dining rooms for breakfast it was the first time in 6 cruises that I decided to skip breakfast-Victory was far superior in that regard. Lunch and dinner was about the same-although I must say the buffet lunch on the Victory was better-with the Norway winning out for service-in terms of scraping away the crumbs in between courses-etc. Entertainment I thought was better on the Norway-a disappointment on the Victory-had been on the Sensation-always found a bar/lounge to go to-it was like on the Victory they added more cabins but not more public spaces-also-in comparison to my cruise on the Sensation in 2/98-Carnival appears to be not hiring cohesive bands but "screws in a cog" so to speak-on the Norway it was clear that they were cohesive bands (like my cruise on the Sensation). I am not bashing Carnival-loved my cruise on the Sensation-I just feel that I like the 77,000 type ships better than the 100,000+ ton ships. I am deeply saddened by what I perceive to be the loss of Norway-at this point in time I am not even interested in cruising-there are no ships I feel a compelling reason to sail other than the specialty and luxury lines that I cannot do at this time. I went on the Victory last April, and it was awesome! The food was great, cabins were nice and clean. The ship was unbelieveable! Its one of those ships you either love, or hate... She has a very, odd, interior... Its all aqua green -But I dont let little stuff like that ruin my vacation. Yes I do agree with eandjracquet, there are more cabins then entertainm, ent can accomadate, but I never felt as if I was bored! The ship is clean and new, I would suggest it to anyone, feel free to email me at rangervr6178@yahoo.com - I will answer any questions!

We were with a large group on the Victory last December. This cruise was originally booked for the Norway, but due to some disappointing reviews from cruisers on the Norway the cruise was changed to the Victory by a consensus of the group. I cannot tell you how happy I was about this when I found out that the Norway tenedered always. I am disabled and fairly mobile, but tendering is an adventure in itself for me. The Victory docks at all ports. She is a great ship. Food was excellent and our cabin steward(a young woman from Russia) was the best. We shared a suite with other friends. You can't beat having a balcony. We try to have a balcony on our cruises if possible, because once you go balcony you can never go back. As far as entertainment everybody in the group had a good time. My husband and several friends were extremely fond of the piano bar. My husband had turned 50 six weeks before this cruise and so my best friend and I organized a surprise birthday party for him on the ship that included some friends in the group that was cruising. The staff from Carnival and on the Victory were excellent. The set-up, the appetizers(which were arranged beautifully, and tasted great) and the cake were a big hit with everyone. I know some people on here are not big Carnival fans but I have sailed on the Regal Empress(first cruise, great time), the Sea Breeze(now gone), the Big Red Boat(now gone), Costa Romantica(great cruise), Disney Wonder, Holland Volendam, and seven cruise on various Carnival ships and have found Carnival to be an excellent choice for the average cruiser. I can recommend the Victory with no qualms what so ever. Have a great time.

In my opinion, VICTORY and NORWAY are two different ships. One is a big glitzy ship while the other is a "grand" ocean liner of the early days. If I was looking for fun and excitement, I would go on VICTORY. If I was looking for "ocean liner-style" cruising, I would go on NORWAY. The VICTORY will definately offer more amenities.
