Forgive me for my ignorance but can anyone remind me why cruise lines got rid of the Topless Decks again??

prude's complaining that it was indecent...and these were the one's always hanging around up top...that was the response i got from a crew member....jeff

How lame and pathetic to get rid of areas like that. I suppose the so called prudes that complained that it was indecent are the same sort of people that see nothing wrong with blood and guts movies and plays depicting horrific killings. Dont you just hate it when the moral decency brigade get on their high horses and spoil something for others that was no harm at all.

Anyway at least they can now go nude on their private balcony.

I just wonder if the majority of those taking advantage of the 'topless deck' were those you would really want to see topless? We complain about guys wearing speedos that should really be wearing board shorts, but no mention of granny going topless as maybe one of the reasons they stopped the practice? Everybody is beautiful in there own way, but not every body is fit to be seen topless. Maybe the topless decks were attracting the wrong element, sightseers, and people trying to sneek a peek with the video cameras. Those that I have seen at topless beaches and stories on nudist camps were not straight for the issues of a gentlemans magazine or GQ, sad to day.

LMAO, a topic I thought would never see on here, cruise critic sure, but here, never !

I have no idea why Carnival did away with them, to be replaced with mini golf off all things.

We used to love it up there, no screaming kids, always people to talk to (after the first couple of days) and always good bar service.

On a side note, on the Westerdam last month there was a young lady laying out on one of the open decks, my wife joined her, they got talking and my questioned her.

It seems that every now and again she will be asked to put her top on, her simple reply is 'Please show me in the contract where it says that I cannot lay out without a top" of course it isn't anywhere, she then asks if it is the cruiseline policy to sexually discriminate against women, as men are allowed to layout without a top.

At this point it seems the staff give up.

Anyways, they spent the sea days laying out toegether and nobody bothered them.

I'm pretty sure most US ships cruising the Med allow topless sunbathing (women and men).

Theres nothing wrong with men wearing speedos eithter and that is sexual discrimination as no one complains about women wearing a bikini.

Trust me on this there is more to speedos than you think. If your an expert swimmer and want to go paddling around and in the pools or even snorkeling in the caribbean then speedos are the best option to wear. I can manage 30 seconds for 50m freestyle, if i tried that with boardshorts it would create drag to slow me down a bit.

Thats why i like the german ship's...they all have the FKK deck for naturist's and anyone not wanting a tan line...Europa had the best...private and great people to chat with...

From my experience, yes. I used to walk past a well known nude beach in La Jolla, CA (just north of San Diego) on the way to my beautiful secluded beach and you generally would not want to see 95% of those people naked!
