We are leaving in December onboard the Carnival Destiny for a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise (Cozumel, Grand Cayman & Ocho Rios). I would welcome any suggestions about sites on the islands and tips about the ship. Thanks!

We enjoyed the ruins at Tulum and Dunn River Falls is a must. Jamacia is beautiful.

Be prepared for the begging children if you decide to go to the ruins. Since that trip, I always carry small bars of soap, shampoo, and toothpaste to give to the children.

Have a wonderful trip!!!

While in Jamicia, I liked the 3 hour horse back riding tour, you see a lot of the island, get to ride bare back in the surf. I have heard about people being seriously hurt climbing the falls. The Destiny is a great ship I was on the first voyage to where you all are going. I am going on the triumph in December.

Debbie/All:

My husband and I went on that same itinerary on the Destiny in Nov '97 for our honeymoon and first cruise. It was a great week! Just the right mixture of sea days and port days. We were sorry we didn't go to Carlos 'n Charlie's in Cozumel, because people seemed to have a blast (it's a big rowdy party so that may not be your thing); but we still enjoyed ourselves on the snorkel tour. Our tablemates also loved the "swimming with the stingrays" excursion in Grand Cayman and my husband loved climbing Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios--we got some beautiful pictures in Jamaica, it's very green and lush. Grand Cayman is expensive for shopping; it's also the only port where you have to take a tender to shore. We just did the beach excursion there. Were warned not to venture off on our own in Jamaica so that's why we did the tour to the Falls on the rum cruise--which, as I said, was fun. The Destiny was lovely and I think you'll really enjoy it. Deck (lounge chair) space can get a bit crowded but if you don't mind either going early and staking out a chair, or going later in the afternoon when people seem to head indoors for a nap or because they've had enough sun, you'll have no problem. My husband loved the fitness center and I had a great massage (book any salon appts early, they go fast!). Food was wonderful. We liked Carnival a lot and are booked on a one-night "cruise to nowhere" on the Inspiration out of Newport News this Labor Day weekend, and again out of Newport News for next May on the Destiny, to the Bahamas. Enjoy!!
