This is my first time posting. My fiance' are planning to spend our honeymoon on a 4 night Bahama cruise next January of 2000. Because of financial matters w/ our wedding expenses, we pretty much have decided to cruise on Premier Cruises; specifically their "Big Red Boat" (formerly named Oceanic). Can anyone tell me if they enjoyed their experience on board Premier's Big Red Boat & also where we may find a legitimate discount travel broker? We have never been on a cruise before so needless to say, this will be our first cruise. Thank you.

Hi Krista, I recently booked a cruise vacation and the cheapest deal I got was from Costco Travel. They pretty much beat all my local travel agents by at least 20%!
The only thing is you have to be a Costco member and I don't know if they deal with Premier Cruises. Good luck!

Krista,

Not sure why you picked the "Big Red Boat" for your honeymoon, but unless you are traveling with children or specifically want to be around lots of chilidren, you might want to consider another ship. While the brochure may say that the trip is fun for adults too, most activities are geared towards the younger set. A nice quiet dinner will be hard to find on the "Big Red Boat".

Before you decide you might want to check out TravelPage's reviews of the Carnival fleet to see if one of their ships might be a better fit. Check out our Cruise Deals too.

Can't help but agree with you Joe.

My folks had been on the Oceanic long ago when it was owned by Home Lines, and they said that it was one of the nicest ships they'd ever had the opportunity to sail on. Unfortunately, so much for Home Lines.

But after I read the scathing review you folks put forth regarding this ship since its purchase by Premier, I have serious doubts as to whether or not Premier really wants to be a real contender in this market.

Krista, I'd sooner recommend Carnival if you can afford it, not that they are particularly upscale. But if it's fun and action you want, you're better off there. You don't want to make a mess of your honeymoon; it should only happen once in a lifetime (of course, that's another can of worms).

Krista, You want something really nice and special for your honeymoon. I have been on many cruises and believe that Celebrity is the best deal for your money. January is not a big month for cruising and you should be able to get some good deals like $699 per person for an inside cabin. I have had both window and no window and go for what's cheaper. At issue is having a quality trip and I'd much prefer spending the money on a cruiseline with great food and quality service. I would recommend Celebrity, Princess, and Holland America. Norwegian and Carnival have nice ships, good entertainment, and poor quality cafeteria food. Hope this helps, have a great trip!

Since you are looking at less than a week cruises...
Carnival: Fantasy or Ecstacy
NCL: Leeward
RCCL: They have one too and I'm not sure which ship?

Also look into the 4 & 5 day cruises out of Tampa on Carnival.

having cruised many times, on many lines...Pay no attention to someone who says something is horrible on a line. They either haven't sailed on them or they are picky. When you sail on any of the major lines you will get good product, or they wouldn't be a major line, would they? I am not a fan of RCCL, will probably sail on them again. My biggest problem is the size of their cabins. They recognize the problem and are correcting this situation in their newest ships. Sorry to carry on like this, I hate Carnival bashing.
