Sailing soon on the Victoria. I've heard some very bad reviews. Has anyone sailed recently that can add any info?

Having recently sailed...I will tell
you will have a good time.

The indoor swimming pool is nice.

The Concorde plaza, and Orpheus lounge
are nice.

The entertainment is fun, and don't
miss the Roman toga night!

However the food & service were
lacking for my tastes.

And there really was too much smoke
in the dining rooms and the theatre
and in the elevators for me.

The anouncements are made in about 6
different languages.

It is fun to meet people from all over
the world.

Hope you have a great time, these were
just my observations.

Have you cruised before with any other
line?

Good sailing...lauri

Lauri,
Thanks for the encouraging review!
We've cruised 12 other times and thought we'd try a new line. We have always enjoyed our cruises because we make the best of what we have! Have you ever sailed on Carnival? We felt their food wasn't the best, but we always manage to have a good meal. Princess had good food, but their entertainment put us to sleep. For us, Royal Caribbean seemed to be the best compromise--decent food and entertainment. A good cruise director also makes a difference. If you sailed on Carnival, please let me know how the food compares to Costa. Thanks. Linny

Dear Linny, since you are a veteran
cruiser you will probably not like
the service or food either.

The best food I've had was on
Celebrity's Century & the Sea Princess.

However, I had a lot of fun on the
Costa Victoria because of the good
variety of music and the cruise
director Nick Wier is funny and talented.
They have a lot of inter-active
shows where they bring the audience in
on it, and it is fun if you have a
sense of humor about yuorself.

They do many fun things during
dinner, don't be suprised if you
wind up in a conga line before you
have your desert!

But, I will not cruise with them again
because of the poor quality of food
and service.

If they could get that end of it right
I would do it again.

Part of the problem I saw was so much
of the staff could not converse in
English, or any other language than
their own.

Do go dancing in the concorde plaza,
that was one of my favorite places
for music and dancing.

They do cater to europeans, who love
to smoke everywhere, don't get me
wrong, that is not meant to be a
prejudice on my part, I loved meeting
everyone and speaking in different
languages, just don't like smoke in
the elevators and dining rooms.

The ship is not as flashy as some.
I have not done Carnival.
My sailings have been on Princess,
Celebrity, RCI, and HAL.

Everyone has a different opinion,
and I hope I told my positive &
negative thoughts without upsetting
you.

I know you will have a good time
even if you don't care for some things.

Go to the Roman toga night in your toga, most people wear them, send
someone to the lions...you will love
it!

Good sailing...Lauri

I'm sick and tired of people complaining about hearing announcements in 6 different languages. English is not the only language in the world; the best part of traveling is discovering new people, new places, and new languages. Afterall, isn't that why we travel in the first place? If you never want to hear a foreign language -- just stay at home.
