This will be our first Carnival cruise (Nov/99); we have cruised with RCI(Monarch,Majesty,Legend)Norwegian Sea)and Premier in prior years; how does Inspiration rate? Also, can anyone give me further info. on the "booths"?

Arnold, you'll love the itinerary and the ship. But what are "booths"?

I have heard that Carnival has booths as an alternative to conventional dinner (table)seating arrangements; I have not been able to find any sources of further information unfortunately

My husband and I just sailed on the Destiny in December and we have also been on the inspiration. During this time we have never encountered "booths". They offer the regular sit-down dinner just like every other cruise line does. Although, they have started an alternative dinning program that offers buffet style (very good selection) casual dinning between 6:30p.m. and 8:00p.m. in the Brasserie Bar and Grill. I think maybe someone gave you some incorrect information. I hope you have a good time. Me and my mother-in-law (one cool chic) will be sailing on the inspiration on December 12th of this year.

Booths are just the same as in a restaurant. Seating areas on bench type seats with dividers between seating areas. Remember the fifties and sixties when you and four or five of your friends would go to the Soda Shop. That's a booth. It has been said the the problem is that if you are on the inside you have to have everybody move when you want to get out. They hold six people, three each side.
I don't know about you, but when I sit down to eat I don't generally get up until I'm ready to leave. At that time so is everybody else. I don't really see a problem. They certainly looked quite roomy on the Imagination.

All of the Carnival dining rooms have big tables, little tables, round tables and booths. There is a long row of booths in the area between the window tables and the other tables in the center in the dining room. they all seat six, as i recall. Get out your magnifying glass and look at the dining room graphic on the deck plans in the brochures. You'll see each table and each booth, more or less.
I had a booth on the Destiny that held four of us quite nicely. I think six on that booth might have been crowded. I personally prefer a table..........

Just got off the Inspiration on Easter. You're question about the booth has basically been answered. But just to let you know, a booth seats 6 people on this ship. It worked for us because my husband and I sat on one side and my 3 kids sat on the other (when they came to dinner). My only complaint on that

Oops (sorry) --

My only complaint on that particular ship was the bar service. During the day at sea (the rest of the days you are in port) never once was a drink served to me. I was on the back of the ship and never even seen a drink waiter. So not only did I have to go get my own drink, but had to pay the bartender a 15% gratuity on top of it. In the dining room, it took us approximately 45 minutes each night to get our drinks.
Other than that the ports of call are excellent and the rest of the ship was a well attended to.
