We were on the Romantica's first caribbean cruise a little over a year and a half ago. We found the ship to be quite comfortable. The cabins were good size. The food was good , not excellent. Pasta was VERY good. Crew were very friendly and courteous. The shows left great deal to be desired. When we went the line had just been taken over by carnival and showed the growing pains. Overall on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 6.

I've returned from doing a Western Caribbean route with the Costa Romantica. The food and service were both excellent. Definitely did not have a problem with the entertainment; although not something memorable. However, the crew were so helpful and friendly; service makes all the difference.

We sailed on Costa Romantica on the Baltic cruise in July. The food was awful, except for pastas. Renowned desserts were absent. Hardly any English even from reception, although they will probably have more trained staff from Florida ports. Forget the buffets. Have all meals in the main dining room. Cabin space was very good, but good luck with the shower ! Entertainment was very good. Hard to find a quiet place.

We have been two times on the Romantica it has been three years. One was a teriffic cruise and the other not so good as there was a 700 person seminar onboard which changed the flavor of the ship and even some of the events and times. Besides that we thought the food was very good just did not have the selection we were use too. The pasta and pizza were great. service was good to great and the entertainment not great. The ship was very laid back with announcements coming in about four languages. The line offered great deals and would consider going again. We loved the ship herself. Just the way it was laid out.

Thanks for the reply, neviboy.
I received an "urgent" E:mail msg. and followed up with a call to sender.
They went on Costa/Victoria (July 23). I haven't heard such horror stories since Carnival made news last year.
(1) Cabin flooded 3 days. Passengers were compensated with daily cookies & fruit. Their door to the cabin was left open the entire time so that fans could dry the carpets. (2) Cig. Smoke in every inch of the dining room. (3) Yes, the bride said after being on a diet for several months, the one thing she wanted was a piece of chocolate cake. They were offered ONE choice of dessert nightly. (4) Children running through the casino all night (5) Entertainment?....6 crew people. No "Broadway" style show we've become accustomed to. Little to no music at poolside. (6) Ship ran like a local ferry for the European citizentry. New people off/on at each port. (7) I won't even bother to tell you about their ground/air experience. (8) They received better exchange rates ashored. They were cheated aboard ship. I really can't go on.....It would take pages. "balcony"

Even on the highest rated ship, SOMETHING can go wrong. It's about correcting - quickly and compensating to passengers' satisfaction. Every thing I was told scared me. I'm staying away from Costa.
