Any comments on this ship. I understand it doesn't have any hot tubs, which is already not good. Let me know. Thanks!!

My husband and I were on this ship in November. It is an older, smaller ship with no hot tubs and limited pool area. There is an upper deck for sunning(you may see topless women as there is a "tops optional" sign posted)but it was very windy. The pool area seemed crowded. Bar service was not great, food was ok, as was room. The couple we were with were on their first cruise and enjoyed it. In Cozumel you should rent a vehicle and drive around the island, it's beautiful! If you want to enjoy a quiet beach drive to the other side of the island and stop at Playa Bonita. Rustic, but very pretty and out of the way of most tourists.

My wife & I spent 16 days on this ship in Oct 1997 from San Diego to San Juan through the Panama Canal. We have been on 7 cruises and although this is the smallest of any of the ships, we enjoyed is as much an any of the other Carnival ships. We did like Holland America best.
On the plus side it doesn't take as long to get from one end to the other and with less passengers it is faster to to get off the ship. It is an older ship but seems to pretty well maintained.
Except for the hot tub, I feel you will probably enjoy the cruise.

The Tropicale is a nice ship, but keep in mind, this is The Carnivals ""SMALLEST"" ship out of there fleet. Although this ship is is 1996 model, everything is very nice and updated.I went a 5 day cruise and it was nice and i enjoyed it, but i will say, on this ship, when the seas get bad YOU KNOW IT. The ship had alot of movement (ONLY WHEN THE SEAS WERE BAD) once the waves calmed down, it was great. Myself, i highly reccomend you going on The Carnival Destiny. The Destiny weighs 101,353 Gross Registered Tons......and the Carnival Tropicale weighs 36,674 Gross Registered Tons.....there is alot of difference in size and stability. I think myself The Tropicale is really a 2 person ship for honeymoon couples its smaller and more cozey. If you have a family, consider The Carnival Destiny. And i do want to make a comment on one thing "JLS" said in there response is that The Carnival Tropicale is NOT a old ship, its a 1996 model, and when you compare it to alot of other cruise lines, you will easily find out its ALOT NEWER than many of the other ships.

The Tropicale was actually built for Carnival Cruise Lines in 1982 and it might have been retrofittted in 1998, so, yes it is an older ship but that should not deter you at all.

I will like to say yes, i did make a mistake on saying that Tropicale was a 1996 model, my faught, but hey we all make mistakes. The Reason i was saying a 96 model is because it was Refurbished in January of 1996, and when your on the boat, it does not look like a old boat, its very up to date and modern looking. One of my favorite places to go was the Islands in the Sun Lounge.
and also.....about Ctrail saying something about maybe retrofittted 1998...dont think so bubba. Nothing happened in 98 to that ship.
