We're booked on the Mercury in January for our 10th wedding anniversary. We've sailed Celebrity before (in '94 on the Zenith)and absolutely LOVED Celebrity's service and level of cleanliness. I would love to hear what others think of the Mercury (or her sister ships), and any inside feedback.

Was on The Mercury in Feb!

Love her......even the inside cabins
are well appointed.

Food & Service great.

I especially love the Spa & the
Large hot tub pool there....you can
lay down on the wooden slats & be
under the hot mineral water!

Very relaxing!

Hope this helps! Bon Voyage

Look for Amanda Reid who may be on Mercury as Ship's Hostess - Tell her Barry V. says hello. I use to work with Amanda on the Zenith as Entertainment Host - in fact I was among the very first crew aboard the Zenith and brought it over from the shipyard in Germany. I assembled the ping pong tables aft and I helped stock the Library. Amanda is a very sweet lady who has been working on cruise ships for probably 20 years. She was a dancer on the QE-2 for 12 years! I'm certain you'll love the Mercury - be sure to give us a report when you return.

My husband and another couple and I sailed on her to Alaska in May, 1998. We had an outside cabin with veranda on ten deck; the other couple was located on eight deck. Even though the Mercury is some 77,000 tons and carries over a thousand passengers, the only time it seemed crowded was during the lifeboat drill when everyone was required to show up! We too are Zenith veterans and found the Mercury a step up. The ship was absolutely spotless; the cuisine was great--and the evening entertainment outstanding. The couple that traveled with us felt the entertainment equaled any production they had seen in the Boston metropolitan area. Be sure to join the Captain's Club if you haven't already done so. For a $35 fee (that is good for a lifetime), the ability to have priority embarkation and disembarkation is worth it. I think you will find that the Mercury's informal dining area is much better appointed than that of the Zenith. One doesn't feel so much like one is in a cafeteria. Do take advantage of the pizza delivery to the cabin! On one of our ports of call we returned to the ship worn out and didn't feel like going to dinner, so we ordered pizza and sat on the veranda in the moonlight! Do take advantage also of the ability to order wine for dinner from the cabin's interactive t.v. There is also a wealth of other information on that t.v.: repeats of the port talks, etc. The Mercury, unlike the Zenith, has her own little cinema with real comfy padded chairs. We loved the Mercury so much we are seriously contemplating the Genoa to Ft. Lauderdale crossing in October on the Century. Bon voyage.

HI Barryboat, my wife and I met Amanda Reid in May 1998 on the Mercury Cruise to Alaska. She was very professional! She was also a star of the BBC TV 'fly on the wall' documentary series which was filmed on the Galaxy in 1997. All the British guest recognise her!

I have just read on the CDC's (Centers for Disease Control/US Public Health vessel sanitation ship inspection program) web page that the third time in three years, a Celebrity Cruises vessel has been awarded a perfect score. According to CDC's records, only six ships have ever scored a perfect 100 since the program began. The line's most recent perfect 100 score was earned by Mercury on May 2, 1999, at Fort Lauderdale's Port Everglades.

The Mercury is a very nice ship, in fact its my top pick of out Celebrity's Fleet. I went on a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise on Febuary 7th. I stayed in room # 1061 and it was very roomy and had a 70 sqaure feet Veranda. The food was great, the service was great, the ship is great, everything was nice and clean. There was only really one thing i didn't like was AquaSpa Massages was "higher" Than The Carnival's. Other than that we had a blast.
