Hello again! I have yet another question for all of you cruise-savy travelers. I have finally decided to book a 7 day cruise for new years, figured out which ship I want, and even got a great deal! Now, my travel agent says that he can get me a great outside cabin, one category below a suite, but it is handicapped accessible. When I hesitated, he said that the bathrooms would probably be bigger and that in general the cabin would be somewhat bigger. I am not handicapped, and am not sure I want or for that matter NEED this room, but this is the last room left in that category, and the next best one available is on a deck 2 levels down. What do you think? Have any of you ever stayed in a handicapped room? BTW, this will be on the Carnival ship Inspiration. Thanks for the input.

I have not been in a handicapped accessible cabin, but have some knowledge of special access. The room should be at LEAST as comfortable for you as a "regular" cabin. It may even have more ammenities. That is what accessibility is all about, enabling people with physical challenges to enjoy the same things as the rest of us. (and we don't give it a second thought!)
If the room were offered to me at the same price as a regular cabin, I would gladly take it!

Sure, I'd go fot it. It will probably be a little bigger than a regular cabin. It certainly will not be any smaller.

I'd go for the cabin 2 decks down - it's probably cheaper and you won't spend much time in it. Food and everyting else is the same regardless of location.
It surprises me that a 'handicap equipped' cabin can be offered to a non-handicapped. What happens if someone really NEEDS it between now and sailing date?

A word of warning, I have heard that some handicapped accessible cabins have no true shower, just drain in the bathroom floor. Thus everything on the floor gets wet. Don't know if this is correct, just something I have heard.
