Has anyone tried these? Are they brutally loud?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Night Owl state rooms/Stateroom - that's a new one.

Can you explain, please?

Snowman, no I haven't tried them. My travel agent said that the noise is loud enough to be bothersome at some points and in that light my daughter and a friend (both girls are in University) are thinking of giving them a try 1) because they have limited resources, 2) because they figure they won't be in their cabin until after all the music has stopped.

Green, for such a savvy person I would have thought that you would have related that cabins on ocean liners were sometimes called staterooms. In most cases they were probably smaller than most cabins on modern cruise liners. Because of the pompous nature of most cruise travellers of that bygone era they used this pretentious name so as to cover up the fact that they would be staying in very cramped rather than regal quarters.

Haveagoodtime:-)

I'm sorry but I don't understand this either. As far as I know all cabins are called staterooms at least on HAL they are, but what I want to know is what are Night Owl staterooms. I have never heard this expression. Where is the noise supposed to come from - the engines? We have been on the lowest deck of a ship (Westerdam) and these cabins were never called Night Owl, nor were they noisy.

Sympatico, when the Destiny was designed they placed about six cabins under a disco/nightclub without sufficient sound insulation and the music goes right through to these cabins. The problem was rectified on future ship designs but they were stuck with these on the Destiny. Hence the term (from Carnival) of Night Owl Cabins. They are about $700 for the week per person and they are Interior Twin/King cabins.

Hopethishelps:-)

CTrail - you don't have to be a 'savvy' person to know that cabins are referred to as Staterooms, written by some as state rooms - you only have to look at a brochure.
My question concerned the Night Owl reference - thank you for your explanation.
In this day and age many people choose to travel in the lowest category inside cabin and there's no shame in that - amenities, entertainment and food are the same for all - the 'pompous' just don't want their friends to know about it!

I think EVERYONE knew what Green was referring to. The "Night Owl" part, and not the stateroom part. Some people are too quick to judge!

CruiseBuff - Start at the beginning with Snowman's 11/26th post and then you will understand. Some of us couldn't figure out what a Night Owl cabin/stateroom was - never heard of it.
