Heard a brief clip on the news this morning that the Carnival Paradise had some problems on its Millenium Cruise and arrived back a couple days late.

Anyone heard just what the problems were?

The ship caught fire and the engines didn´t work anymore. People had to evacuated from the ship while it was moving without helpless in the sea.
This is what I´ve read in an Austrian newspaper at Zurich Airport.
I just wonder what has happened with Carnival Cruise Line. It is the 3rd ship of this line which was burning during the last year. And the PARADISE is a totally non-smoking ship, which was almost new.
Is Carnival still a safe line ? What do you think ?

Hmmm....question is Carnival Safe? Well I just returned from a week on board the new Carnival Triumph and I'd say the safety precautions taken were stronger than ever.

I have NO question that Carnival is a safe cruise line. I'm beginning to question the Masa Shipyard that keeps producing these vessels though. Royal Caribbean has had their share of engine problems in the past few years also with ships coming out of the Masa yards.

I don't know where you heard this news but I just finished searching cnn.com and usatoday.com for any news about the Carnival Paradise and there is no news.

Frankly your info about the ship being a couple of days late is totally wrong because the Ship was not due into Miami until 01-02.

It is very obvious that the people that post on this site are just out to make trouble. We would have all heard if the Paradise was in trouble. Get real.

It was reported earlier on this site with a link to a news story that the Paradise did have some engine problems and had to rearange it's ports of call. There was a pic of a couple of hundred people protesting while it was docked in the Bahamas.

There was definitely a problem on board to do with engines but no fire, where that story came from is obscure.

Nothing about a fire. Carnival sure arn't giving anything away though to their passengers. I can't say thats really a way to encourage passengers to come back to them.

Thanks Green. Good to know it was nothing major other than upset passengers.

For fellowcruiser and John Blake...glad to accept your apologies! We are NOT here to make trouble...just to find answers to the unknown!

I was on the Millenium cruise on the Paradise and based on the news today on the Destiny, I think they have major engine problems with both ships! We were floating about and going from port to port for repairs and never went to one of the original destinations! So much for the cruise of a life time. It will be unforgetable for all the wrong reasons. I will never go on Carnival again considering they basically said "too bad, so sad" with no refund ($100 on board credit for a $7000 cruise).
