The ship of this week is
MS PAUL GAUGIN

18800 grt length: 156,50 m beam: 21,60 m
draft: 5,15 m
owner: Service & Transport Cruise Line, St. Nazaire / France
cruiseline: Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, Helsinki / Finland
operator: Radisson Seven Seas Cruises
first entered service: January 1998
built at Chantiers de l´Atlantique, St. Nazaire / France
machinery: twin-screw electric-diesel
registry: Wallis & Fotuna (French-Polynesian flag)
homeport: Mata Utu
passenger capacity: 320 (international)
crew: 206 (international)
officers: European
electric-currency: 110 AC
cabins are equipped with radio, TV, air-condition, refrigerator, safe, bathroom with shower and bathtub, hairdryer and toilet. In each bathroom, bathrobes are provided for each passenger. Half of all cabins feature private balcony and all cabins are outside cabins.
The ship is equipped with 2 diningrooms where are always open seatings.
There are 4 elevators, 1 casino, an outside swimming-pool, a fitness-center, massage-facilities, 1 library, 1 showroom which provides space for all passengers at one time, a grill-a nd buffet-restaurant, a promenade with shop and some lovely bars.
Another attraction is the retractable watersports marina at the stern of the ship. It provides watersoprts crafts, scuba and snorkeling gear.
This ship has been especially designed for cruising around the French-Polynesian Islands in the South-Pacific. You get already a real French-Ploynesian feeling when putting your first step on the ship, due to the beautiful colourful, light decor and artwork throughout the whole ship. There´s as well the Fare Tahiti galery which offers books, videos and many other material about the culture of French-Polynesian Islands. It´s a really interesting facility.
On each cruise there will be also experts and lecteurs to accompany passengers and explaining them all about what they can see on the Islands.
The dining-rooms are very light (both located on the aft of the ship) and the open seating will let you meet each day new passengers. Anyway, this ship is small and with 320 passengers only you´ll feel like a big family. Food and service are just excellent and complimentary wine will be served with dinner.
In the Conaisseur Club, fanatics of cigars and cognacs will find their prefered place of the ship.
I personally think that this ship is one of the nicest new vessels which are afloat, it provides what you need for a cruise in this area and still is kept in a suitable size which is easy to overlook. Already the area in which the ship is cruising is fascinating like a paradise and this gives a PAUL GAUGIN-cruise the last touch of being a perfect vaccation where really nothing is missing.
Radisson Seven Seas Cruises is a company which is really giving lots of attention to the detail and with the PAUL GAUGIN they took the oportunity to score very high marks with their passengers. Service onbaord is perfect due to friendliness and lots of attention from the qualified crew but also due to the crew-to-passenger-ratio which is very high.
My personal rating: *****

Cruises with PAUL GAUGIN can be booked through your local RSSCL representative. Ask your travel agent for details.

Hello Patrick!
Thanks again for another great ship profile. Especially like your listings of the actual owners of the ships. This information is not readily available.
I was fortunate to see PAUL GAUGIN close up in Port Everglades when she was on her way to Tahiti. A very handsome ship.
Regards,
John
