I am booked on the June 17th voyage of the HAL Zaandam. When I booked in early January, it was scheduled to be the 15th sailing which I figured was the best of both worlds: a new ship and plenty of time for the crew to figure out how to work as a team.

Now, I'm hearing that the Zaandam is delayed (again) until May 6 from it's earlier Mar 26th scheduled debut. The HAL website still lists a 10 day Southern Caribbean on Mar 26th but all others previously on the site have been removed up until May 6th.
A Feb 10th press release about their new ships for 2003 & 2004 mentioned the Zaandam is scheduled for May.

Can anyone confirm? I'm starting to get nervous. Any more delays and they are getting dangerously close to June 17.

Just got a fax today for the Zaandam Inaugural sailing of May 6th, 2000. Shouldn't be anymore delays.

Fore and Aft:

Why don't you call HAL ships services and ask them how things are with your ship? I did that when I was booked on the new ROTTERDAM and it kept on being delayed. In fact, you can keep calling them even closer to your date and they will still tell you what is happening.I always found them very cheerful and understanding.

I spoke to Holland America today. The date for the inaugural cruise is still May 6th and they should be able to meet that date.
