You can own this ship...

Those of you with an extra $1.5 million or so might be interested in bidding on the former Regent Sea. She goes up for auction - not on E-bay - beginning April 3rd and the minimum bid is $1.5 mm.

Here's a link to the all the info http://www.ipkoke.com/pmi/040300/

Good luck to all.

Joe, if we had the money, I'd buy it
and bring it back to it's original
form. It would be great to see if
Premier would get it. They can't go
wrong.

...If I correctly understood, Joe is offering us $1.5 million to buy this splendid ship!...Thank you Joe, you're a really good "Cruise director". :-)

Of course we don't know realy about its condition and the works to do but $1.5 million is really not lot of money for this kind of ship. I think the price of the sell will be far higher, depending on the number of interested companies or armators of course.
I always loved this liner and her near syster, the KUNGSHOLM of 1953...and I'd really want to have enough money to buy, refit and run her!
---end of the dream---

Has anyone ever been on this ship?
If she is sound lets all chip in and start the travelpage cruise line. I have $20 and will be CEO. Y'all can decide your own positions and of course buy shares in what will become the best cruise ship ever.

Paddy.

P.S. I got a lot of good pics. of this ship on my camcorder last time we sailed out of Tampa on the Tropicale. It sure doesn't look as nice now as the pic. on the top of the page, but I still would like to be Captain of it.

I"ll put in five bucks if you agree to add a short flight deck and get the ship up to 50 knots.
My job will be Flight Boss--Sightseeing.
I also want a uniform like a Swiss Admiral

No, the same person. They keep locking me out and I have to reregister. I just use the next number.
Possibly I"m getting a message.
I was disowned years ago there"s only one me.
I am getting a little ticked at being demoted from first class so often.
Hope this answers your query.

According to the www.varsity-nj.com, the REGENT SEA is in rather bad condition with numerous problems, the main one being a structural integrity problem created when the previous owners tried to turn her in to a permanently moored casino. Some crucial beams midships were removed, and cannot be replaced without splitting the ship in half. I am not sure if I got the website address correct, but I am almost certain that is what was stated on the website.

World is full of ships waiting new owners: basically waiting to be scrapped.

I dunno what is value for this kind of ship if it would be scrapped.

PS. can you open "COMPLETE BROCHURE" from http://www.ipkoke.com/pmi/040300/ ?

What a lovely old ship. It's a shame she's in the shape she's in. No wonder they're opening the bidding at $1.5 million.

When the Britanis was for sail her price tag was $1 million, When I first seen the Regent Sea it was on travel page's cruise ship profiles and I knew I had to learn more about her, she was a beautiful ship with two grand funnels and graceful lines. I would like to buy the ship but it would take me a hundred years to pay for her, then I would not know what to do with her but put her in my back yard next to my car also the same age as Regent Sea. I am looking forward to seeing who buys this ship and what will they do with her, I do not think she will be scrapped because the steel price is down last time I heard.

Hi Geno-R, when we were on the TROPICALE, I took a lot of photos of
the REGENT SEA, as well. It's still
very elegant looking. Since the TROPICALE is larger, I was able to get a better view of the outside decks, as well as the terrible rust
in some places. I hope something will
be done with it. Those who have the
mentality of the Carnival Cruise Line
executive about the S/S UNITED STATES
who think this ship too should be sunk and the S/S NORWAY should be done away with. I have only one thing
to say to you; SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!
As long as these liners can be maintained "properly", why can't they
still be useful? After all, 'NEW' IS'NT EVERYTHING.

Dambrosi,
Lets go together at Tampa to buy and refit this charming ship. I'm sure, when it will be done, several forum mates will join us!

Ok, ok, we need lot of money to repair her...but we can dream just few minutes, ther's nothing bad!
Seriously, we can at least hope very strongly a company will buy her for repair and make her sail again!

Joe....

Great old ship. I sailed her as the Gripsholm
and once as the Navarino.....very comfortable
and warm. As the Navarino she was just not
up to the old standards of SAL. She has
great staterooms which are of large size.
It would be great to see her sail again.

Hey Vaccaro, when we get the liner
redone. We should give it a very regal, luxurious name. Such as the
S/S REGINA AQUA. What do you think?

NAL is really very lucky to have sailed on her in her earlier days!

Ok DAMBROSI, absolutly no problem, it is a nice name, "REGINA AQUA" suits me! ;-)
Later, we'll think about the deck's names...
...and now, to put afloat this project we have just to go to "BANCA FORTUNA"...

Hey Dambrosi, I agree with you. The older ships have a unique charm and elegance. Even the Tropicale has a uniqueness about it. Perhaps Carnival should have a small or medium size ship division, it seems like the Tropicale is already being run like that. Carnival but yet, not quite Carnival if you know what I mean.

To pardon the expression Geno-R, I get your "drift". LOL
I'd like to see COSTA take the
COSTA RIVERIA here with us either in
Tampa or Port Canaveral. The same
with the PACIFIC PRINCESS. It would
give others a chance to sail on these
beautiful ladies. Port Canaveral is
just booming here and with the SOTSEAS, coming here in 2 months.
Who is next?

It would be great to see these ships there. I love sailing out of Port Canaveral or Tampa. It sure beats the heck out of driving all the way down south to Miami. How about Jax? With the Naval base there, do they have any facilities for passenger ships?
