I have heard so many conflicting stories about the Triumph. Some say that they had a wonderful experience and others tell me that it was their worst nightmare, with kids drinking underage and getting VERY rowdy, fights over deck chairs, bad food, bad service...need I go on ;-) Anyone that can offer some thoughts and perhaps pros and cons regarding this ship, would be appreciated as we are scheduled to cruise on this ship in a few months.

Thanks!

When you get wildly different reports on a given ship, it is probably NOT the ship. Especially if the reports are from the same season. The type of problems you describe reflects the passengers more than the ship. Only one time did I ever sail on the same ship twice. The first time was a trip of a lifetime. The second was marred by a group (about 65) made up of young professional(?)women. We knew it was going to be a wild trip when, as we pulled away from the dock, some members of that group, pulled the secured deck chairs out of storage on the Lido, stripped to the waist and stretched out in the sun. By the third night the waiter refused to go to their table after he was groped by one of these women. You can't imagine the disruption to scheduled events caused when ship security is being called from one end of the ship to the other to quell one incident after another.
Would I blame the ship or ship's crew, No, but I have learned to avoid certain critical travel time to avoid sophomoric traveling companions.

My husband, his parents, and I sailed on the Triumph Jan.22-29. We had a wonderful time. There were some children (I think the cruise director said there were 300--out of 3012 total passengers), but they spent most of their time in Camp Carnival or in Underground Tokyo (video arcade). We really didn't notice children or wild behavior from them, with one exception. One day they were running up and down the corridor outside our room. It was at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. We opened our door and asked them to please stop running as it was disturbing us, and they said okay and took off. We found all of the crew to be very polite. Our cabin steward was not as attentive as we've had on past cruises, but we found out it was his last cruise for a few months, so that could explain it. We had a fantastic time on the ship and have no complaints except that the cruise went by too quickly!

we just returned from a cruise on the triumph. we were a family of eight i am 55 my husband 48 2 sons 2 daughter in laws age 30-32 2 grandchildren age 9. so we had different age groups. the ship had over 3400 guests and you could tell. most of the time we had to wait on long lines, for food, information, drinks (which we had to get ourselves a lot of the time). the food on the buffets was not the best. the night before we left they informed us they where changing the itinery. they had a problem with the ship and had to fix the propulsion system, so we did not go to st croix instead we went to nassau. we had already paid a dive shop in st croix for a dive trip so we had to get on the phone and try to cancel. hopefully we will get a credit. if you want a chair at the pool you better get up at 6am.otherwise you will find blue towels on the chairs of people holding the seats for 5 hours until they are ready for them. i really dont have time to write all the problems but one good one was the ship was very rocky a few of us had to take pills for our stomachs being upset.(normally we dont get sea sick ) but the ship was really bad. we dont know if it was because the the thing they had to fix or not. anyway at dinner a waitress was coming up the steps the shipped rocked and she went into a waiter who was carrying 25 plates of food, and the whole tray went onto the table behind us plates broke on a mans head, thankfully he wasnt hurt but he and his family had food all over them. we made our trip a success even though the ship needed many problems solved. when you save and pay as much as you do for a 7 day cruise you shouldnt have to lift a finger.we have cruised 6 times before on other ships and had a wonderful time. we heard they had overbooked this cruise and i guess they just couldnt handle the amount of people. also my son was going into the jaccuzi and his foot went through the grating.he got a little scratched.our cabin steward was the best and really great with the kids. the employees were great i just think they didnt have enough for the volume of people. the casino was good also. jj

Someone at my office just returned from the Triumph, also. She's 26 and her boyfriend is in his early 30's. They had a wonderful time and had no negative comments about anything except the weather. They did mention that it got quite rough at times and that there was a wild lightening show the last evening. But, other than that, everything was great for them. She especially liked Jamaica - thought it was beautiful and really got into bargaining with the natives. It was her third cruise - his first.

Hope this additional opinion helps. I'll bet you're going to have a wonderful cruise!

I sailed on the Triumph in December and had a GREAT time! This was my eigth Carnival cruise and probably one of my favorites. Never had long lines to wait in, always got an excellent seat in the show lounges and only had problems one day at sea getting a deck chair after lunch. Wouldn't hesitate recommending this ship or ANY Carnival ship as I think theire product is an outstanding value for the money.

As far as kids, there were a good number on board but never saw many of them until the last night when they did a Christmas show. Had no idea there were that many on board. If ever cruise could keep kids busy and out of the way like the Triumph did I wouldn't mind kids on a ship, however I still would like to see some adult only cruises as I don't really enjoy being around kids when I'm on vacation.

My wife and I had a good time on her last summer when we went up to Halifax. It was my first time on any Carnival ship. As Carnival ships go, she's a beauty, but I'm not a big fan of Carnival in general, having previously cruised on Princess and Royal Caribbean.

A cruise, like any other vacation is really what you make it - it can't possibly be all bad.
One of my happiest and well remembered vacations was on land - it rained for 14 days straight!
Go - enjoy your cruise!

jj- I feel all the cruise ships are understaffed. The last two RCI ships we have been on the service was not very good compared to previous sailings with them. We did notice the waiters and busboys had more tables than ever before and this certainly cuts down on their "personal touch". On the Voyager, we never saw our room stewardess, this was our 24th cruise and the first time that the steward(ess) did not come and introduce herself to us the first day. In fact when ever we needed anything we always round up asking the steward down the hall because we never saw ours. Luckily he was always willing to take care of our needs.

As far as the rough seas, no cruise line has any control over that! just the man upstairs! Try ginger capsules next time, they work wonders.
