I'll be sailing with 18 other family members in January on this new ship. No one in our group has ever sailed with Celebrity. Most of us were on the Grand Princess last year and the Norway a couple years ago. I've been impressed by the reviews, etc. about Celebrity. Is the line as good as the p.r. says? We had a great time on the Grand Princess, but all of us rated the food as average at best. I'll be curious to hear about the ship's first few cruises in the Med. I'll be watching this site for updates. This forum is fantastic! I've enjoyed reading so many of the messages. Got some great ideas for some stuff to bring on the next cruise...duct tape anyone?

eliz I think you will be impressed with Celebrity. We cruised the Grand last year also(our first time with Princess)and enjoyed it,we thought their food and service was good. We've cruised with Celebrity three times and think their service is far more sincere and personal,I rate their food hi
gher. Princess had excellent entertainment a bit above Celebrity and a excellent staff in the childrens programs equall to Celebritys.I think the staterooms are larger and better looking with a lot more closet space on Celebrity. Celebrity even has closet doors, not a curtain.

I've cruised with Celebrity and I can confirm that they were very good. Below, not a real picture of the Millenium, but an artists impression borrowed from the Celebrity web site:

Thank You VERY much Kruzin Kat!!!!
My husband and I are going on the Jan. 21 sailing to the Eastern Caribbean on the Millennium. We have been waiting patiently for more photos. That is a good site. I remember they were the first to have photos of the Voyager of the Seas.

eliz....

Don't let the PR Dept. set you up for dis-
appointment. Celebrity Cruises is good, but
hardly great. Nice cabins, good food [though
not as good as earlier], good service. I
don't personally like the decor much on any
of their ships, but that is a personal thing.
I am sure you will enjoy your cruise. You
will enjoy your fellow passengers. Celebrity
seems to attract nice people.

Thanks for all the imput. I'm sure we'll all have a great time...how can we not...especially when some of us are from the Chicago area and we're cruising the Caribbean in January!! Mercy, we're on the January 21 cruise, too! Sounds so far away. It's really amazing how far in advance you have to book these cruises. Can't wait!

eliz... You will LOVE Celebrity Cruise Lines! I have been on the Mercury twice. Once to Alaska and once to the Western Caribbean. I have tried Carnival, Norwegian and Celebrity (so far). I have talked to hundreds of passengers about which cruise line they like the BEST. They all say Celebrity. One woman said she sails on Crystal Cruises a lot and thinks Celebrity, is on par with them. The interactive T.V.'s are very convenient. They also have, at least, 20 inch T.V.'s in all the cabins. Some of the suites have BIG SCREEN. The food is fantastic, even in the buffets. The shows are very professional, with a laser show!

Mercy - you're welcome re Lori's site, and thanks for the enthusiastic comments about Celebrity and Mercury. We're doing the trans-Canals (San Diego to Ft. Lauderdale) on Mercury in September and can't wait! Could you share any insight as to dance lounges? Hubby and I are ballroom dancers, which means we like a little room to move as we waltz, fox trot, cha cha, rumba, tango, swing, etc. And we like a variety of music - and, believe it or not, do not prefer Big Band, which is limited to mostly fox trot and swing. Did you get to the lounges in the evenings? Thanks for any info you can share.

KruzinKat... Pavillion nightclub, and the Captain's cocktail party.
My husband and I danced in the Navigator club to the Caribbean band.
They will have different entertainment, I'm sure. So I don't know who will be on the ship when you go. We went last April to the Western Caribbean, and the summer before to Alaska. Totally different entertainers.

Mercy, thanks for your input. We'll be in either #6101 or #6125 (my parents in one)on the Penthouse deck. I'll stop by! You have so many postings, are you a travel agent? Sounds like you cruise several times a year. Fun! I have a question for anyone who's been on Catalina Island. Are there excursions available to play golf at Casa de Campo? Do they tender people there? I cannot find any information about booking a golf outing. There is nothing about this in the brochure or on the Celebrity website. Thanks!

I had Casa De Campo send me a video and brochure. You can request them on their web site. I am NOT a travel agent. Just a cruise a holic ! I get most of my info from the net. Since I am going on this cruise, I have looked into it throughly!
I just read that Catalina Island is also used by Costa Cruise Lines. But they call it Serena Cay! They use it on different days, but it's the same place. So you can also find out about it, looking at Costa ship reviews under that name. I also found an old excursion list. There was an excursion to Casa de Campo, and one to a recreated 16th century village called "Altos De Chavon". The web site for Casa de Campo is.. http://www.casadcampo.com/
