We're traveling in Dec. on RCI Enchantment of the Seas. Airfare is $359 pp. We went to San Juan in Jan. and airfare was $599 which was Cheeeaap compared to airline prices ($700+). I'm sure I can do better than $359. Any ideas of websites or other discount flights? We're going the day before so luggage being transferred for us isn't important. Hotel will pick us up at airport and take us to port the next day.

You are correct about being able to beat the cruise line airfare rates, but in general your ability to do so depends on how early you start looking for a better rate.

Have you tried TravelPage.com's reservations service? Just click on the tab at the top of the page.

All of the true online sites (...including this site) use the same basic technology - so the same query run at the same time will generally give you the same rates.

Keep in mind though that rates change by the minute, and depending on your preferences (time, date, airline, etc) you can get very different results from day to day.

You can also try to consolidators or auction sites but in general you will be presented with much fewer options for a price that's not much lower.

Best advice is to plan early and monitor fares on a regular basis if you really want to get the best fare.

I don't care how much more I pay. I will arrive and depart when I want to arrive and depart. Airlines are no longer efficient enough to handle connections at an acceptable rate. From now on I will book non-stop domestic flights. Cruise lines always book you with connections. I guess I have grown tired of it. I also have grown intolerant of
the cruise bus transfers. I have sat on a bus at the airport for many wasted hours in my experiences. Additionally, everyone gets off the bus at the same time and then you wait in another line with your bus mates. I hate lines and I hate waiting. A nice cab ride is what the doctor orders.

Sometimes the flights ARE direct AND nonstop, much to my delight. Last time I flew from hometown San Francisco to Miami, with the cruise line's air package, I imagined all sorts of terrible flight paths: via Detroit on Northwest, via Chicago on United, or via Charlotte on US Airways. Imagine my glee when the ticket came and it was nonstop, SFO to MIA, on American.
