The guessing is over. I received a fax this morning from Blyth & Company offereing cruises to Cuba aboard the Valtur Prima. Beginning May 26, 2000 port of call are Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, Cozumel & Havana.
Their web site is: www.visitcubanow.com

Looks like Patrick guessed correctly. Can't understand why Blyth and Co. were so secretive about this ship.

Sorry Sympatico, I think, as far as I remember, I didn´t guess it was the VALTUR PRIMA. But now I understand it since Club Valtur is performing Cuba Cruises and Blyth & Company might have bought some allotment from Club Valtur.
In Germany, the VALTUR PRIMA is successfully sold by Air Maritime Seereisen, the representative of Club Valtur in Germany.
Thanks for keeping us updated, billee.

I dont think this is the ship doing the 3 and 4 nts to Cuba from Nassau. This looks like something different from what Blyth & Co is starting up in the winter.

I think they are both separate operations.

The web sites of Blythe & Company http://www.cubacruising.com/ and West Indies Cruises http://www.visitcubanow.com/ don't have any common links and are registered to different companies. Additionally, one is leaving from Kingston and the other Nassau.

Billee, did the fax about the Valtur Prima say it was associated with Blyth & Company?

The fax came from Blyth & Company. For Americans, round trip from Montego Bay. It said the cruises were "hosted", that way U.S. citizens could legally go. For Europeans, the cruise was round trip from Havana.

Just spoke to Blythe & Company. Here's what they told me - there are indeed two different ships sailing two different itineraries. Valtur Prima is sailing the 7 day out of Kingston and la Habana will be sailing 7 day out of Nassau later this year.

The companies are related but the operations and product are distinct. Most curious...
