I would say the SS Norway is the BIGGEST cruise topic for all us sea dog here... Caronia what did you think of the Oceanic and Vistafjord ? I know they are both very different ships inside but yet I like them both...

I have so many ships that are my favorite from Mauretania to Queen Elizabeth 2 and the new building of Queen Mary 2 and another ship witch I will not name until the company gives more info on if they will really build it.

Hi Caronia
Welcome aboard; it's great to hear from the younger folks! Being from the "other side of the pond", my favorite ships differ, except for the Norway. She's still a lovely lady with class and elegance. I also enjoy any of the ships from Celebrity, especially the Horizon. What do yoy enjoy the most about cruising?

Happy Cruising, cruznut6

Hi again, thanks for all the replies!

I love the way you can see so many new people and discover new parts of the world so easily. There's a certain magic about cruise ships, that is certainly not present for holidays like back packing!

I was only on the Oceanic for 4 days, i didn't really like it much - it was too full of bratty kids on family reunions! I much prefered the RVS and Vista.

The QE2 is beautiful, loverly modern yet stylish decor, and so much amazing artwork.

It was strange after being on the Vista/Caronia a few times (and becoming so familiar and comfortable with it) to feel quite lost and overawed. Especially as it's so much larger than what i'm used to!

Also, i'm used to seeing familiar faces amongst crew, so when we saw a couple of friends on the QE2 it was a great relief!

Cya!

Caronia; Welcome aboard! It will be great to have the viewpoint of someone else your age and location. That I know of as I don't know most of the other posters age. Did you just view her from dockside or were you allowed to go onboard, maybe even lunch if so what did you think.

Caronia

Although I'm 48 years old and have cruised on 10 different ships,I still get excited whenever I see or read anything about ships.
Seeing the ship you're about to board for the first time is still one of the greatest feelings in the world. Hope you enjoy the QE2 and give us a review when you return!

Hi again!

We went on the QE2 for the afternoon, cos my Dad was joining as Security Officer. So we got to look around and had lunch. It was a good day, even though it meant saying goodbye to Dad until August 6th!

At first i thought i'd never find my way around, after being so familiar with the Caronia, because of the many stairways and restaurants and lounges!!! But as long as you decide to either find yur way somewhere by the decks or stairways, you're ok! Eg, to find your cabin, say 'I'll head for deck 4.' or 'I'll go to stairway D' and it's much easier!!

Although he's got a 12 day handover, it's gonna be hard for Dad to get used to a new ship to work on, as he's only been on the RVS and Caronia/Vista before. He prefers the Caronia. Although both our cruises were on the Caronia pre-refit, we've visited since but i haven't seen the RVS as the Seabourn Sun, which i won't get a chance for a while yet now that Dad's on the QE2!

Bye for now!
