Do any of you know somewhere on the net to find current photos of Celebrity cruise lines new ship "Millennium". It will be in Amsterdam on June 17. So it must be about ready? The only pics I have been able to find are months old.

Hello Mercy:

Millenium will be in Southampton for 3 hours on the morning of the 16th June, as I am due to go on P&O's Aurora on the 18th I will be down there and I hope to be able to get into the docks to take some outside shots of her. If I get them I will mail them to you.

Celebrity Cruises received Millennium from Chantiers de l'Atlantique the 31 may 2000. But, the ship will left Saint-Nazaire only the 6 june. Millennium will first go to Southampton where four private cruises will be organise to press, agency ...
Millennium was deleived at time but she left the yard six days late because Celebrity ask some modifications in last minutes.
The construction of Infinity is good with the planning.
The 27 may 2000, Chantiers de l'Atlantiques delived to Renaissance, R Six.

Hello,

Mercy,
They are from about 2 months ago but I have few pictures of MILLENIUM at: http://dvo.free.fr/millenium-tp-forum/millenium1.htm
I didn't take them myself and they are quite poor quality because I captured them from a camcorder with a basic equipment, sorry.
However, I they allow you and few interested other readers to have an overview of the building of the ship in her late stage.

Ps: I would like to use this reply to thank Dambrosi, Scottylass and Terry for their kind attention during the last two months.

Thank you Vaccaro for sharing these photo's with us all.

Mercy: I think you may need your sunglasses when dining in the restuarant. Looks a wee bit bright to me. Only my opinion of course.

Mery, the ship will be completed about one month after your cruise! Only joking. :0

Have a great one, and please report back.

Sorry Mercy, I have just read your post again at the top, and I now see that you will be in Amsterdam on June 17, so you will be able to see Millenium for yourself. Excuse me the brain isnt functioning too well....

You never know we might just pass each other on the high seas somewhere. Ha Ha... I will keep a look out for you, I do not think Millenium is a ship that anyone could mistake at sea.

Vaccaro... Thank you VERY much! I loved the photos! I also took a look at your web site. VERY impressive. We will be on the Millennium in January to the Eastern Caribbean. We are all the way in the front on Vista Deck, cabin 7000. We were really curious about the cabin window? It was supposed to be a panoramic window, floor to ceiling. But in the pictures, it is a port hole? I hope it's a BIG port hole!
Scottylass... Thank you so much for offering to send me pictures! That is really nice of you! What I said was , the Millennium will be in Amsterdam the 17th. I will be home then.
Thanks again!

OK Mercy:

I will look out for a BIG PORTHOLE, at the front for you and try and get a picture of it as well.

Cheers

Just had another look at the pictures, and they do look like rather LARGE portholes right enough, I think if I was you I would be speaking to Celebrity asking about this, if after all you were suppose to be getting a floor to ceiling window!!!! Maybe you will get an upgrade if you make enough waves over it (pardon the pun) Ha Ha...

Cheers

Scottylass... That's not a bad idea! When we went on the Mercury to the Western Caribbean, we were upgraded to a Balcony! I have no idea why? But we were thrilled!!! Celebrity C.L. is very good at customer service. I will E-Mail you my address. If it turns out to be too much trouble, don't worry about it. Thank You Again

Thanks for those amazing pictures! She looks like an amazing ship- I am puzzeled however by the colors Celebrity has chosen for this ship. Blue, black, white, yellow, red... why not add green and orange and paint "Greenpeace" on her side! She looks more Disney than Celebrity- I hope they rethink that choice.

The pics of Millenuium are great Vaccaro. Do you or French news have any update as to the status of the finishing and delivery of the ship. We are on the July 1 sailing and wondering if they are going to really be finished as Celebrity says they are, since they canceled the June 17 inaugural sailing and the July 1 sailing does not show up on their web site anymore. Thanks for any updates.

Welcome onboard Artichoke.

Sorry, I have no other news that the official ones from yesterday June 10th:
The June 15th christening at Southampton is cancelled, the first sailing (06/17) too but (fortunately for you) the July 1st one is still maintained.
I have no other news in the local press releases, at least the ones I found.
Keep connected with this board and I'm sure as soon as someone will know, he will post new infos here.
Maybe you should phone Celebrity or you travel agent too.

Don't hesitate too share your cruise report here, with the first passenger impressions on this ship when you'll be back. Thank you.

Bye and very happy cruising.

I think the Millennium is a beautiful ship witch is odd to me because I like older ships. The company is good but I like Celebrity when as Chandris. I have no idea on the level of service now compared to then but I guess its the same.

Do you know if the MILLENNIUM will still visit Southampton or is that cancelled as well?

Sorry Terry, I found new informations nowhere during the last two days.
The initial naming ceremony was planed on June 15th at Southampton for a first cruise begining from Amsterdam on 17th.
According Celebrity last communique, a naming ceremony is still planed BEFORE (of course) the sailing of July 1st which will be then the maiden one.
Considering this cruise will exactly be the same itinerary than the original maiden one and considering the godmother, various guests, peoples involved in the commercial advertising of the ship in Europe are still the same ones, I think we could expect a naming ceremony still at Southampton for the June 29th or so.
But I repeat, this is a personal supposition only. The only thing officially true is a naming ceremony is still maintained before the sailing of July 1st from Amsterdam too.
Sorry, I know this doesn't help but, sure, as the date arrives, we'll know very soon.

Bye.

Just saw a memo from Celebrity(can't remember where) that they are CONFIDENT that the Millenium will be ready for the July 1st sailing. Also~~~called Celebrity and the reason that the July 1st sailing is not on their website is because it is already completely sold out! Hope that helps!

New photos of the inside of the Millennium!
On the "Cruise Addict's" site. List on the left, scroll down to the bottom. I like the looks of the Casino. It reminds me of Caesar's Palace in Vegas! I also like the dining room. http://www.cruise-addicts.com/picturepost/

Wow! How beautiful is the Olympic Restaurant? I've been waiting to see that shot for a while, notwithstanding the images from the White Swan. But to see that paneling on a ship again....ahhhhh! "La Vita e Bella!"
