Some friends of mine sailed the Pacific Princess to Alaska just a few weeks ago and used the Internet maybe two or three times. It's not cheap (I can't remember what the price was), and it was not always reliable (unable to connect because of mountains or other blockage, and if you can't get through, there's no refund), but it was a whole LOT cheaper than trying to call long distance ship-to-shore.

I was on the Royal Princess and the time on the internet was 7.50/15 minutes. There was a long line and it was only open certain times. There were only 2 computers. When I was on the Grand last year, I noticed they had more computers. I assume the price is the same for all Princess cruises.
