I now have another question about voyager.
I plan to visit the spa while I'm onboard. Can anyone tell me how much I should plan on spending for services there?

I seem to remember they were a little more expensive than other ships. A full body massage was about $90 and and hairdressing, wash and blow dry about $35.00.

The services are more expensive than many land based spas. I love spa treatments, but I had a spa treatment on the Voyager and was very put off by the hard sell to buy Steiner products while on board. So I didn't have another one. If you do decide to have a treatment, book early. With 3000+ people on board everything books up fast. Book either Sunday or Monday to even get a treatment.

Thanks for the input! The price does seem to be a little steep,But I'll probably go for it anyway,no sense in skimping on my vacation. But do you all think it's worth it? How are the quality of these treatments?

Quality of the treatments are great!! I use to work on the ships and would get a massage once a week...and it was well worth it, however, I didn't pay the normal high rates.

The steiners are very professional and they truly know what they are doing. They train for at least four years to become a Steiner.

I find the Steiner salons, which are on most mainstream cruise lines, to be quite good; however, they try very hard to sell their products. I find this distracting, especially when I'm trying to enjoy a massage or facial. What I've learned works best is to politely tell them ahead of time that I'm not interested in buying their products. They respect this and don't even bother with the sell tactics.

On the Radisson Seven Seas Navigator, the Judith Jackson spa is fabulous. The products are on display; but at no time did anyone ever try to give a sales pitch - and I didn't even mention that I was only there for the treatment! In fact, I asked them about the products and even bought some to bring home for myself and as gifts. Found them to be much better and less costly than Steiner.

Enjoy your spa treatments and your cruise!

I also was put off by the hard sell of the Steiner people when I went for a relaxing massage. I was not feeling well and thought a nice massage would relax me. Well it did just the opposite and I vowed never to use them again. Also their prices, as far as I am concerned, are outrageous. I pay $70 CDN for a 1 hour massage at home and there it was $90 US, I believe. The same with the beauty salon - very expensive, compared to CDN prices and I think everyone comes out looking the same. Had a pedicure once and it was a disaster. The girl was literally working in the dark. She sat on the window seat, had no light,(lamp), except what came through the windows and it was around 5pm, therefore getting dark out. Got my money back on that one. Never again will I use Steiners.

Steiners does have great products, but I've heard complaints from just about everyone I know about the hard sell from them afterwards. Why do the cruise lines put up with this, and why are Steiner's employees made to be so pushy?

I think my husband and I may reconsider the massage. Personally I think booking a massage here, the day before departure, might be a better idea. I'm not interested in being pushed to buy anything while I'm trying to unwind. I agree with you Nathan. I think the cruise lines should try to take care of this. It's not right for people to be annoyed in that manner when they are paying nearly $100 for a 1 hr. massage!

Darlene had a good idea that I have used as well, and it does work...simply tell the steiner person politely, before your service that you are not interested in purchasing any of their products, and they will be gracious to honor your request. Yes the prices are a bit high for most of the services, but they do excellent work! They are very well trained, and I know from experience that their massage is very relaxing and or invigorating. Sometimes the Steiners will have specials that they offer throughout the cruise, I would ask a steiner at the beginning of your cruise if they plan to have any specials on massage or other services during the cruise. Sometimes you can get a better deal.

My wife raved about the spa on Voyager. They had treatments "not available anywhere else". I thought it was a little much but the treatments seemed to work very well and she really enjoyed them.

I thouroughly agree with Barryboat... be polite but firm about selling additional products and they will leave you alone.

Some prices from our Compass:
"Relieve foot and ankle tension, selling nad inflamation. Pure luxury w/ aromatherapy oils. $45

"European Eye Special - 25 min treatment for lines, pufiness, dark circles, firming & Toning plus 4 mo supply homecare program. $129

Large Jaccuzi in spa with bath salts was also very relaXing.

Pretty much on par with land based resorts.... enjoy!!
