I appreciate all the info I've been given while visitingthe forum. This is a great site! I have another question. My husband said he would like to use the whirlpools at night while on voyager. Ihave heard that the whirlpools are not open very late on cruise ships. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks!

All the ships we have been on close their whirlpools around 7:00pm, draining them and then cleaning them. The exception was the Grand Princess which left the two at the back of the ship open all night. It was really nice, wish the other ships did that.

I appreciate the replies although I am rather dissapointed. I had hoped at least one would be open later than 7:00P. I summited this question to RCI as well but I knew it would be answered more promptly by all of you. It's a shame that they close so early. Keeping them open would only add to the whole cruise experience.

emgrace, cruise lines worry about passengers drowning in swimming pools and whirlpools (unlikely?) when it's dark and everone is dressing for dinner, having dinner or seeing a show.

Be sure and use the whirlpool in the open room by the workout room. It is an extremely large pool that has jets going all the way around it. I'm guessing the size, but maybe 15' round. The jets are stronger than the small whirlpools. It is almost like having a massage. When you get back yet everyone how much you enjoyed it. We used it everyday.
Yes! It closes when the workout room does.
Have a safe enjoyable cruise.
We are going on the Explorer first week of December.

Thanks Billyboy! We'll give it a try. In response to your comment Malcolm, I suppose it makes sense, from a liability standpoint to close the whirlpools early. people full of too much booze in a whirlpool late at night sounds like a recipe for disaster. Thanks again for both of your replies!

Just returned from the Voyager. The pools and whirlpools close at 10pm. They drain them every night.
