Ok, I'm finally getting around to organizing a TravelPage.com cruise. Instead of just picking a cruise and letting your decide whether you can make it or not, I want to get your feedback as to which cruise might work for the most people.

Therefore, if you are interested in meeting some of the people behind the posts on this site (...a scary thought) and having a great cruise, please visit the following page and let me know which cruise would work best for you.

http://www.cruiseserver.net/travelpage/deals/travelpage_cruise.asp

As soon as I get enough feedback I will get back to you with details about a specific cruise.

Great idea Joe. My vote's already in. You made the form very short and user-friendly. Hope you get a good response.

Unfortunately, you missed out an European cruise. I can only speak for myself but an Caribbean cruise might be a problem (extra expenses with air-travel, acommodation, etc)for a European.
Maybe an solution can be found that can please both Europeans and North Americans.

Paulo Mestre

Well done Joe!

Paulo,Caribbean Cruises including flights can often be cheaper than European ones. I live in London - but could fly to Miami and cruise for less than I could take a cruise from Southampton!

Compromise: The SS Norway's repositioning cruise (Transatlantic Sept 2001) will not be cheap, and will take 16 days. For that reason it is probably not realistic.

However, the historic significance could be enough to persuade serious European CruiseTalkers to fly to Miami, and the North American CruiseTalkers to cruise to Southampton, and fly back home?

For the more wealthy North Americans who do not fly - they could always take the QE2 back across the pond a few days later!

Joe, what a great idea. Unfortunately if you're talking about 2001, I won't be able to join. I think something like that I'd rather attend once the kids are grown and I can do more grown up things. Maybe if it is successful and you keep it going for about another 10 - 15 years, I'll be able to join you all. Good luck.

Have put in my two choices. I think it is a great idea and it would be so nice to meet some of the other posters. Actually three of us are making plans for the Amsterdam to Canada/New England for next September. Do hope it materializes.

Hi Joe....

Just had a look at your cruise choices.
Unfortunately,I am already booked on the MAASDAM in December,2000 and April,2001.
So unless I win the lottery, there's no way I can make any of those dates.

Maybe next time???????

Come on people. There must be more takers out there? I for one would love to meet others from this board. For that, I'm willing to explore "other" lines than my favourite.

Joe, I hope you get some responses because I'm anxiously awaiting your decision before I book other things. Do you have a cut off date?

That didn't make Joe's short list, but it would be a big yes for me. Which Ship? Am I assuming Amsterdam here. That would be a resounding YES. My husband just reminded me that he only "works" in the gold mines, he doesn't "make" the stuff. Ha. Ha. In any event, if we pick a HAL ship, I'm in. If the group picks something else, I'll seriously consider it because I'd like to meet everyone. I have another cruise with a group of women in November, still in the planning stage. As long as the two are not too close, I should be alright.

LisB, Just thought I would clarify this before I start rumors and confuse people. My last posting wasn't clear. I realise those are two different cruises. I am still considering both. Email me if you wish.

Joe,
I am interested and would love to meet everyone, but I am booked on the Volendam Feb. 25 for 10 days. Anything in the spring time would be difficult.

Joe...how about a 10-day instead of a 7-day? Do you think there would be enough interest? This is why I was thinking maybe the Amsterdam from NY to Montreal or vise versa next September as many people have already signed up for Spring 2001. Also people from overseas might consider flying over for 10-days and not just 7??? There seem to be quite a few who would like to sail from New York too.

Sounds like a lot of people already have a spring cruise planned. How many people are seriously interested in Norway's final crossing?

Here's the itinerary, leaving September 2nd

Sun. Miami, Florida
Mon. At Sea
Tues. At Sea
Wed. New York, New York
Thur. At Sea
Fri. Halifax, Nova Scotia
Sat. At Sea
Sun. St.John's, Newfoundland
Mon. At Sea
Tues. At Sea
Wed. At Sea
Thur. At Sea
Fri. Glasgow (Greenock), Scotland
Sat. Dublin (Dun Laoghaire)Ireland
Sun. Cruise English Channel
Mon. Le Havre France
Tues. Southampton, England

We have a block of cabins reserved ranging from inside to suites. Prices right now range from $1749 to $2249 without
air. Depending on size of the group prices could go down. Any takers?

Feel free to contact me if you are interested.

I'm seriously interested, but I will of course need air from London.

I was waiting to see if NCL (UK) package would be cheaper than arranging my own air.

NCL UK still don't have a price!

Thanks Joe, but not interested in the Norway. Looks like I will be going on the Amsterdam in September so that's it for me. Maybe in 2002 you can put something together.

Sorry Joe, but I will never sail on this ship again. Was on her in 1966 when she was the ss France and we hit a hurricane on the way to Europe. I sat in the Lounge for 5-days earing apples and crackers -- and have very poor memories of the ship.

Plan to sail on the Amsterdam with Sympatico and NAL in September to NE/CANADA instead.

Try again for 2002 as we would like to meet some of the other posters.

I monitor other cruise related Boards, as well as this one. I have found that I am unlikely to ever be able to go on a Board cruise because of my planning routine. I am a great long range planner. I booked my 2001 cruise within days of getting off the ship in 2000. I am currently getting a group together for a February 2002 cruise to Hawaii. I am now wondering where to go in 2003. Board cruises don't plan that far in advance.

Really like the idea of 10 days - on a 7 day you're just settling in when it's time to pack.
THE AMSTERDAM Sept. 07'01 is high on our possibility list - we can't commmit to anything at the moment.
Living in Toronto, New York to Montreal is ideal...and we'd love to sail the new 'dam' ship.

Sorry Joe, not the Norway for me. If you get a majority of votes on that one I'll wish all of you a bon voyage. I might even see you all off and wave from the pier but I just couldn't get on board. Now maybe if they got rid of the perfume shop and reinstated the library. LOL

Reasons why you may wish to consider the Norway's Transatlantic cruise:

*You get a historic transatlantic voyage on the last great Ocean Liner.

*You get to visit some interesting ports of call including the East Coast of the States, France and the UK - most transatlantic trips don't have as many (if any) ports of call.

*You get to visit Ireland, Scotland and could stopover in London, which is only a couple of hours away by train from Southampton.

A suite or Penthouse on the Norway is very affordable, compared to other cruise lines. The price differential between the various grades of cabin is only a few hundred dollars, not thousands!
