Has anyone out there actually seen the inside of the Explorer of the Seas (other than photographs)? Maybe some of you from the Manhattan area managed to get onboard? I have heard that the dining room on the Explorer does not have the large chandelier present on the Voyager and is much more of an deco style. I am to sail on the Explorer in March, at the height of spring break. As a college teacher the last thing I really want on my break is more college students but what choice do I have. I really want to see this ship. Does anyone know if the Voyager is popular with the college crowd? Any information is most appreciated. I think that I enjoy the anticipation of a cruise just as much as the cruise itself.

Thanks,

seatrial

I was on the Voyager in late February and there weren't many college kids at all. But it was a little early for most spring breaks. I don't think most college kids can afford a cruise, do you??? And those that can are probably sailing on Carnival, wouldn't you think?

It'll be fine, I'm sure. You're going to have a great time. Our cruise on Voyager was definitely the best so far.

I had a couple of hours on Explorer when it called in at Southampton ... blimey, what a ship!! The smallest cabins are big, and the best suite on the ship (pause while I check my lottery numbers) has a grand piano in it, and a separate pantry for the butler!!
Can't remember whether there was a chandelier or not, but the ship is superb. The shopping street in the middle is astonishing.

Seatrial, you'll love the Explorer. I just spent a week on her and didn't get to see all she has to offer. There's plenty to do, or you can do nothing at all in style. I'm sure your expectations will be met and surpassed.
Bon Voyage

Actually, one of the complaints from many travel agents during the inaugural sailing of the Explorer was that it doesn't have that beautiful chandelier in the dining room. No matter, the ships are equally beautiful so you should have no complaints when you board her! Have a great time!

Another thinkg I can tell you-spring break on a cruise ship does tend to have lots of kids. Explorer and Voyager are practically booked for that week! Have fun anyway!

We were on Voyager during last Spring break and there were some teens/college but not alot. Most teens/college kids cannot afford to go alone and would rather hang themselves than go on vacation with their parents.

Lots of younger kids with their family but there are so many facilities geared toward them they pretty much keep to their own spaces. The only place I felt overwhelmed by them was late nite in the disco. I started to feel a bit old in there (btw, I'm 33) but they switched the disco to the fourth level on these ships and made the Viking Crown (saucer shaped part on top of ship) into a great jazz lounge.

We loved the ship so much we are taking Explorer for Christmas.

Travel Trade paper has a picture of the chandelier in the Explorer of the Seas dining room and the RCI ad reads "The three-level dining room with its impressive chandelier is only the beginning".
