What will be the future of the older Festival ships? The Bolero hasn't joined the new Spanish cruise line and is now back with Festival offering 7 days cruises from Civitavecchia. To amalgamate them with the newer ships Festival has created 2 brands iscovery and Premium cruises. It isn't a good choice for me:the old and the new ships generally don't integrate well(an example the Costa Riviera is the poor sister, the "Cenerentola",of the Costa fleet).Festival should sell these 3 ships to Royal Olympic:it have so many ships to replace!

Italian Cruiser,
i sail on the Azur in 1992 (Chandris), 1993
(2 cruises, Chandris) and 1995 (Festival).
This is an former ferry and you feel that.
But for the prices paid in the lower season,
service and food are of high quality.
The cabins are o.k. in size and construction.
The Festival ships provide a good relation between price and what you get for, especially in the low season, when they offer special prices.
For me, it was a good experience.
All cruises from Genova.

Festival Cruises is the ideal line for those who look to cruise in an entire European atmosphere. The ships are well maintained and especially the three older units are those which bring in the most of benefits to Festival. The BOLERO is in my eyes the nicest of their ships. She will join the newly created Spanish Cruise Line (a joint-venture between Festival, Transmediterranea and Iberotours) by the end of next year while the FLAMENCO and THE AZUR will first remain under pure Festival management.
It´s a good line, with fair prices and lots of nice destinations, which went right into the steps of Chandris Fantasy Cruises.
They would fit well into the Royal Caribbean-fleet (under condition that the style and flair will be kept)

Why do you keep saying that all companies that have older ships should sell them to Royal Olympic Cruises?
It is obvious that this company has moved to a new style of cruising on brand new ships and I don't really think that older ships would fit them any more.
Furthermore, ROC is probably trying to find ways and sell all of its older ships so that the fleet is more "homogeneous".
Why are you so unfair with ROC?

I agree with everything said positive about Bolero. She is a beautifully maintained small ship.
Special prices were recently offered and we booked for Feb in the Caribbean.
Other than having to get up at 4am, all other arrangements are perfect. No US customs hassles. Air and transfers to and from the ship are slick.
The American market is really missing out on not having ships like this as an alternative to the big behemoths.
I have a photograph of Bolero docked close to one of the megaliners. The comparison in size is a joke. If anyone can Email me and give me a step by step way to print this on this site I will appreciate hearing

To Pan:ROC and MSC are actually the only two existing cruise lines those buy second hand cruise ships.I'm sorry but I don't like ROC because it offers very expansive cruises(the prices of Triton that sails to Civitavecchia are similar to those of the Costa Classica).

Ok I agree that these two companies operate some older ships but to put things right,I think we have to say that ROC has not bought any older ships during the last four years. The only ships that were bought are the 2 (maybe 3) brand new ones...
BTW I have never cruised with ROC and I don't particularly like their prices too but I think is quite unfair for them to be always considered as the company with the old ships.
