I bought mine on May this year; one of the finest books of my collection, because of the quality of the photos. A must have.

I gave my Mom a treasure chest full of things, but she had to go on a hunt for it.There were several clues hidden throughout the house. It started with a story I wrote about how the pirates got her family treasure in the first place. As the only living decendent, she had to find it. It was fun. Everyone followed her from clue to clue. I also found a wooden replica of the Queen Mary Christmas ornament! I got myself a new 30" suitcase on wheels for our January cruise. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas

Sorry, I forgot to mention that there are no chimney's here in Taipei !
Santa bypasses Taiwan, and heads directly to Macao, lands atop the Lisboa Hotel, proceeds to the casino (second level--for the high rollers) and drops his "load" there!!!
In the blink of an eye, he is gone. (But not before he partakes of free "high rollers" booze)
And, NOBODY has noticed that he was there!!

He then proceeds to Hong Kong (bypasses Star Pisces (not to his liking--too mass market a ship) but he does yell to all onboard "shin nien kwai luh" which means happy new year.)
Proceeds directly to Superstar Leo,deposits his butt on deck 10 (executive suites) and is immediately stopped by a stewardess who say's "sorry you cannot be here dressed like that," and "please let me see your magnetic boarding card, which must be used in all outlets and for all onboard purchases" plus, if you do not have the above mentioned card on your person, they will send you back to your cabin to get it, and if not there, they will escort you to reception (with a tight grip) and publicly humiliate you in front of all, especially passengers who are by now half pissed in the Champagne Bar one deck above in the Atrium looking down at reception!
By now, Santa has his soot dripping all over the 15 inch thick carpeting, and Star management is quite upset, so hurriedly says to Santa, "what do you want here? !! You are disturbing us as we trying to get all passengers into the casino!
Santa then goes back up to Deck 10,knocks on a Suite door, and says,to the Suite occupants, Merry Christmas, reaches down into his sack, and then produces the passengers "total onboard expense bill" ( which is probably more than 5000 HKD) and says, Ho Ho Ho, He, He, He, pay up now,or when you try to swipe out at disembarkation, you will be put in chains, your children taken into custody, (then auctioned off after 3 days) but, Have A Merry Christmas, and thank you for sailing with us!!!

Anyway, maybe my self bought gifts are not so bad afterall.
Have a GREAT 2001 everyone
My best,
Mike

I've got that too - great book at a very reasoble price $29 0r £20! The text is even in French and German. Even the cover has a great picture:

Borrowed from Amazon.com

Another great book is Queen Mary by James Steele (Phaidon Press Ltd.1996)ISBN 0714828912

It's a big book like 'Liners The Golden Age' and is full of excellent pictures and diagrams of one of the greatest Ocean Liners in history. It's another must!

It is available from Amazon.com (or .co.uk)for about $44 or £28 - not cheap, but well worth it.

I just brought up the amazon.com link re "Liners ...etc" There are no reader reviews there. I believe it would be a public service for some of the current holders of this book, at this page, post some of their reviews, as cited here, to this page.

Santa brought me a limited edition print called "Sea of Dreams" which now has pride of place in hte dining room. Santa had also managed to surupticiously purchase some goods on our last cruise ship and smuggle them back home without me seeing them (which is no mean task).

What I would like from the Santa of this site, AKA Joe, is a spell check facility. As you probably all know by now I cannot spell and for some reason the spell check on the computer which works on absolutely everything else does not work on this site. (Indeed my other documents look quite festive when you check them at first with all that red and green on the screen)

Well, I bought my husband a mug that says "Captain" on it. I got 3 nice little surprises though. I opened the mail last week and found 2 checks from a class action law suit that I had gotten some paper work from about a year ago and had forgotten about. It seems some stock brokers weren't quite on the up and up and now had to pay up. So coupled with a lost envelope from a previous vacation that was filled with some cash and travelers checks that I found when cleaning up, I went right out and booked a new cruise. Yea for me!

Mercy,

I booked a 3 night (I didn't find that much money)cruise on NCL's Norwiegan Sea. It leaves out of Miami on 1/26 and then goes to Nassau and their private island. I got some pretty good feedback from the folks on this list about the ship which was nice to find out. I think everyone should take a long weekend like this at least once or twice during the winter. It's definately good for morale.

Joan

jmfleser...You will love NCL's Private Island! We had a lot of fun there last April. When will you be in Nassau? I will be in Nassau on the 27th! We will be on the Millennium.
Malcolm (wildman)... I just got back some money from a doctor bill that I paid and then the insurance FINALLY paid. I spent it on a two day trip to the Olympic Penninsula (Washington State). That is found money
