I've been following her thread in the hopes of hearing that the culprits had been found and appropriately dealt with.
In the Cruise Lines forum I see that 2 people have now been identified as the offenders.
It must have taken quite a while for 2 people to throw out all of the teak chairs -quite noisy also I would think.
Where were the security personnel?

That's been one of the questions "where was security" because as you said it must have taken them quite a while to throw the ALL the chairs overboard. When I was first asked if I had heard any noises out on the deck, as we were on Lower Promenade, and then told they had lost all the chairs, I thought the plastic lounges on the Nav deck had blown overboard as we had been rolling during the night. I was shocked when told it was the wooden lounges.
No, two people have not been identified. Sorry if I gave this impression in the Cruise Lines forum. Must go back and see what I wrote and edit it.They have a picture and name of a suspect, but this is now in the hands of Head Office and I doubt we will hear anything further.New lounges will be delivered in a couple of weeks. If I do hear anything more, I will keep you updated.

I don't think this tried and true method will work with deck chairs, but it just shows there have been jerks for years. I sure hope that the guilty ones are found, and then made to pay for new teak chairs. They aren't cheap either!

Throwing anything off a ship is not good practice and certainly not very environmental! It probably equally illigal, be it a chair or a glass, especially as neither are your property! Imagine if everyone did it - that's a lot off glass. I think that you should feel a little bit guilty
However, there are worse crimes at sea!
It was amazing how airborne that hat was able to get. If you walk up there on that top deck, you better hold onto that hat!
Ascendancy - Buy a Tilley Hat - there's a secret pocket for your name and address - the hat is guaranteed to float and (hopefully) someone will find it and return it to you.
There are documented stories of hats being swallowed by elephants and later retreived - still wearable - after washing of course!
Tilley Endurables - there's a Web Site - http://www.tilley.com/index1.asp
Happy cruisin'

K&K, You could always try 'spitting' over the side like in the Titanic movie. It's bio-degradeable, but unfortunately not so romantic!
JesseC, that ice might one day grow into an iceberg and sink a ship?
