I've been on the Radisson Diamond, and can say that the ship, although unique, is not much to write home about. If there is a specific Radisson Diamond itinerary that appeals to you then by all means contact your favorite professional cruise agent and ask their advice and get rates. What truly makes a cruise experience in not just the ship, but the quality of the crew and services onboard, and the itinerary.

I thought that she was leaving the fleet a while back and going to turn into a casino boat stationed out of hong kong.

The RADISSON DIAMOND is on her way to Hong Kong, where she will be renamed OMAR STAR and enter casino cruise service from there.

She entered service only in 1992 , and she is to become a casino in Hong Kong already.
Does that mean her career is over? , as it seems once a liner becomes a casino its pretty much on the downhill of been no longer wanted for cruising.

I hope its not the end for R.D., but as you said, it probably will be. The former CROWN MONARCH almost became a "cruise liner" again, but too bad the deal fell through. What caused the deal to fall through anyways?

Its really interesting that Stanley Ho actually made the offer to buy the R.D. from the owners, rather than the owners putting it on the market. I know that RSSC didn't want to loose this ship (or are they really relieved? )

Hi,
IMO, the owners are a bit releived.....
Yes, they did not put her on the market, and yet
the whole operation happened quickly, and yes...
Radisson is now down one ship with nothing on the
horizon to replace her. When your fleet is limited in the first place, what appears to be a sudden reduction leaves a void...and puzzles observers.
Sort of like what happened to Crystal, is it not ??? The decision to '' return Harmony to the Japanese owners'' was rather unexpected, equally sudden....and leaves a six star operator with 2 instead of 3 ships.

Sounds like the ultra-luxury six-stars operators are finding the market niche they appeal to is indeed very small indeed....and reducing their fleet might be a natural reaction to current condition$$$....

My opinion anyways. What's every else's ???
