As anyone who has read my previous posts knows, my husband and I are scheduled to go on my first cruise on March 23rd (2 weeks away and I'm absolutely breathless!) Anyway, we're going on RCI's Vision of the Seas to Circle the Carribbean. Everytime anyone (past cruiser or not) hears that we are going on that ship, they frown up and say "That's an old people's ship! You're not going to have any fun on that ship." My husband and I are in our mid-twenties. This forum has a pretty varied group of participants. Could I please get you guys' opinions on this? I would really like to know what to expect. Thanks so much!

Don't listen to everybody else. Just go and enjoy yourself. Look what they say about HAL ships! I have been on so many of them and always found a great mix of ages. Sure on longer cruise, like to Hawaii, South America, World Cruise, etc. you will find older people, because the younger ones are still working and can't take the time or can't afford the price of a long cruise.
This happened to us about Alaska. We always though it was old people who went to Alaska. Boy were we mistaken. There every age group that you could think of and lots of kids.
Just go, enjoy yourselves and come back and tell us all how much you enjoyed it.

soon2cruise: your cruise will most likely attract a little bit older crowd as it is a 10-11 day cruise and typically the younger either cannot afford the extra cost or the extra time off from work. On a cruise ship I believe that age does not matter (to a certain point) in any event there will be plenty of pax. your age to have fun with so let the party begin and don't listen to every thing people will tell you! soon2cruise, don't worry about the ages of your fellow passengers. This is your cruise, and you're free to have your own wonderful time. As cruisers, you and your husband are young,(you lucky dogs)no matter what ship you're sailing. Good for you that you've discovered cruising in your 20's. I wish the two of you many, many happy cruises together.

soon2cruise, is it a 14 day cruise or is it two 7 day cruises (East and West carribean) back to back. These two different lengths of cruises do attract different folks. Either way you will have a ball. It is what you make of it not what others say it will be, believe me.

RCCL has a great mix of all ages, plus a great range of activities for all ages. We did a 10 day cruise in November, and yes, there were more older folks, but that made it less crowded around the pool. Also, the night-life was not over crowded as many of the seniors either retired early or were dominating the casino You'll find plenty of common interersts with young and old alike; that's the fun of cruising! Enjoy and please post your thoughts and impressions when you return.

Regards...Bob

The worst age group to be on a cruise is
the teen years, one is too old for the kiddy activities, yet too young to enjoy the nightlife, drink or gamble. I think Carnival has addressed the teen activity thing.

A CRUISE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT

soon2cruise, I've no idea which age groups will be on your ship.

All I can tell you that on a cruise ship, I have met some boaring people my own age and some wonderful people in their 60's and 70's!

I'm sure you will meet some nice passengers too! Enjoy!

Are you going to change your 'user name' when you return? How about 'CruisedNow'

You will find all age groups, especially on RCI. In 98, I took a 14 day Panama Canal trip on RCI and I was surprised at the number of younger couples. Same thing with Princess in 99 on a 13 day Tahiti/Hawaii cruise. Everyone always says, the longer the cruise the older the crowd. Somewhat true but on those two cruises there were all age groups. What someone said about age not being important is true. I've found people older than me doing more than me (I'm 50+) and on my canal trip a couple in their very early 30s took me everywhere with them and I still write to them. It is not the age, it is the personalities and interests that matter. You'll see when you get there! Enjoy your cruise!

Don't worry about it and enjoy. We took our first cruise when we were in our mid 20's and very much enjoyed it. It was back in 1978 when there were not too many younger people cruising. These days there is a much broader range of ages onboard. The Vision is a great ship. As has been hinted at age is a stated of mind. On a cruise ship you really are as old as you feel. You may find that many people between 40-60 may act like they are still in the 20's.

Don't worry about the age of the passengers. You are only as old as you feel and act. We have sat with people from 35 to 85 and had a great time. It's a great experience to sit with different age groups and see how they see the same thing from a different perspective. Be yourself and just go with the flow.

We have made some wonderful friends older than us and younger than us on cruises and we stay in touch and visit regularly.

Your cruise will only be as good as you make it.

The last time we were on Vision OTS for a 7 day Alaska cruise from Vancouver there was a wide range of ages aboard..Our table of eight, for example ranged from honeymooners in their 20's through middle agers to early 60's. All nice people. On that cruise the captain mentioned there were passengers from 34 countries with crew from 40 something countries. You will have a great cruise on a very nice ship.

Soon2cruise. We're in our 40's and we'll be seeing you on this cruise. Look for a couple out there on that dance floor dancing a chacha.
I have short, short hair and my wife is this little petite thing twirling like a princess that she is. Come up and say hi!
If you are getting like me, whew I'm pumped!
Only 8 more days of work!

I am sooooooo psyched to FINALLY find someone else who will be on this cruise with me and my husband! You will see us on the dance floor as well; that's one of the main things I'm looking forward to. My husband is relatively short, and I am short as well (5'1") with shoulder length braided hair. Can't wait to see you guys. If we cross paths on the dance floor, we will definitely say hi! Yep, I'm with you on being pumped. I'm crossing the days off the calendar at work.

Soontocruise, Don't worry about the age group. We just returned from a trip on the Sensation the march breakers were everywhere. Some 40 and 50 year olds also thought they were "march breakers" We saw couples around 60-70 years old and we did wonder why they would pick this ship there were also lots of people (older) in wheelchairs so you really did get a great range of ages. We were on the Bolero last year and I think it would be classed as an older persons ship but we loved it and there were people in their 20s on that cruise to. We are in our early 40s and certainly don't consider ourselves old. Have a wonderful cruise.

Soon2cruise, I have grown to like the company of the older people. They are more down to earth and they humor me more than someone younger. I think you will find the same thing.

Have fun. We are going with friends this time, but our best cruises have been when we have been alone. We are more likely to meet new people this way I guess.
Are you staying in Miami for an extra night?
We will be staying at the Hyatt downtown.

Actually, we are not staying over in Miami an extra day. That was our original plan since I have a dear friend who lives in Florida. But, things didn't work out that way this time. So, we'll be flying in bright and early Friday morning. Have fun with your friends, and perhaps we'll still "bump" into each other on the dance floor.

First of all, Vision is a wounderfull ship as all the ships in the Vision-class.

She has a very elegant finnsih, far away from some Las Vegas look alikes.

She slso has a very nice crew.

But about the age group.

It is true the Vision has a quiet high average age, especially in Alaska and the Panama canal but its going to be high on this cruise also.

The marketing for younger pax is deffently focused on Voyager and Explorer and Monarch ( going to be replaced by Adventure).

And of course on the 3-4 day cruiseres Majesty, Splendore and Viking Serenade.
