The closest I can come to what you are asking was a cruise I was on back in 1981. It was a 4 day coastal. The first day we had no hot water in our shower. The second day we had hot but no cold. The third day we had no water at all.
The ship had also lost 1 of its 4 engines causing us to be late for our stop in San Francisco and unable to go ashore. We were also 5 hours late to Vancouver at the end of the cruise.
This was our third cruise, the first that was not on the Princess line. The cruise staff went out of their to entertain us when we got behind schedule. The ship opened all the bars for free drinks.

All and all we did enjoy the trip enough to continue to cruise. Just not on that ship again.

Sorry, I didn't realize he was 13. I haven't been keeping up with all of the posts lately, I've been skimming them only as I have been keeping quite busy. Getting near the end of term.
