Whats Next! In 1988 Soviengor of the Seas was the first ship to have a multi-floor atrium in 2000 Voyager of the seas was the first ship to have a rockclimbing wall and ice-skateing rink what do you think is next!

I think ships should have mini dog cages abord so you can take your pet. Pop & pee area and all! Ok,Ok I know it sounds stupid but what do you think would be better!

Waterbeds on a cruise ship

Sideways elevators from fore to aft

A garage and ramp so that the ship can carry it's own luxury shore excursions motor coaches

Parasailing from the deck of the ship!

Brothel/Escort theme cruises:

Ships have prostitutes of both sexes.
Sail into international waters and passengers can rent who they want.
A negative HIV test would be mandatory to get onboard.

After all ships sail into international waters to have gambling. You wo'nt lose you life savings having nookie.

Carnival ships look like brothels anyway.

maybe a little redundant

Sideways elevators from fore to aft

Sounds like a good idea but would take a LOT of space. Maybe a couple "moving sidewalks"

A garage and ramp so that the ship can carry it's own luxury shore excursions motor coaches

Locals would not like that one, cuts into the local economy.

Parasailing from the deck of the ship!

I would love that one. RCL would not allow it. After 15 years of flying kites behind cruise ships I was told that I could not do it on an RCL ship. Part of their "Save the Waves" programe...
(that is also why they no longer have skeet shooting)

Could we maybe try a bowling alley?

The QE2 does have facilities for pets, as did the other great liners such as the Queen Mary and even Titanic. The crew would sometimes walk the dogs on the deck!

My dog Norm is very well behaved and I would love to take him on a cruise, preferably in the Caribbean area.
Is it possible and would there be any restrictions?

You'd like my dog sympatico, He's 12 years old, a cross between a Collie and a St.Bernard. Disposition of both. In his world there are no strangers, just friends he hasn't met yet. Oh, by the way, he is also a lap dog, URGH!!!

My full size collie was also a lap dog - as a puppy he was very nervous so I allowed him on my lap in the car (not while I was driving) - somehow he never outgrew the habit and cried like a kid for the first 5 miles when he was put in the back seat.

Much as I love dogs, I don't think a Caribbean cruise would be good - too hot for Canadian woofers!!!!

Cheers

Whole Heartedly agree Green. Our woofer's best time of the year is January and February. He's an inside puppy but he loves to get out in the cooler weather and lay in the snow. He pays for it that evening with his arthritic hips. During the summer he keeps cool by laying over the top of the air-conditioning vents.

Peter - my Dad's Lab was a lap dog also, as is the retreiver next door. It's one paw on the knee, then the other one and before you know it she was on your lap. Loved her and would like one myself, but no room for her to run at my place, and I refuse to get up on a cold snowy morning to walk her. The bigger the dog, the better.

I wonder if the motion of the sea would assist or hinder the proceedings?

Why Brothels at sea anyway, what is wrong with the land based variety? Maybe HAL might want to get into this market or Carnival - now that would be fun!

Blizzard:r.e. kites: a wicked practical joke is during heavy fog launch an all aluminum kite from the stern with 1000 foot or so of line. Let it extend all the way out, then start reeling it in very slowly.
Ships radar and collision avodiance system will pick this up as a ship on collision course from astern.JUST A JOKE. DONT EVEN THINK OF TRYING THIS

On our January cruise on the Millennium, there was a dog on the ship. He belonged to a wealthy lady. She was probably in one, if not the largest suite on the ship. The crew supplied a large box of sod for it to releave himself in on the balcony. She took him everywhere, even danced with him on deck during a pool party. He was a miniature Doberman.

On a cruise we did to Alaska there were two canines on board. One belonged to the Captain and was a miniature collie - we used to see him take it ashore and occasionally the crew would take it for a few laps of the deck. The second dog was a guide dog belonging to a lady passenger.

Both dogs were extremely well behaved, and had their own 'facilities' at the stern of the ship. We never saw or heard much from either of them and I trust they both had a great cruise too!

My fear would be if they fell overboard although I think cats would pose a more serious threat there.

Maybe Mary could tell us if anyone took pets of any sorts (gollies excluded) on the Aurora?

Cats on a Mississippi River steamboat were always considered to be good luck aboard the boat by superstitious rivermen. Just the same way Methodist preachers, grey mares, and naming a boat with the letter M in the name could jinx the boat for life. I remember not too long ago the DELTA QUEEN had a resident cat aboard until too many felinephobic passengers complained.

Now for other accouterments that we might like to see aboard ship. How 'bout a pool table?

I think that a RCL newbuild has this - with some kind of stabilizers?

How about a submarine that is dragged by a tow line connected to the ship while its at sea. The Submarine driver can control sub's speed and direction.

Suite passengers should have their own barbeque grills on their respective balconies. They could tell the galley what time they want it done and what they want. I think this would cut down on the long lines at the lido for burgers and franks and ribs and such...

Half a deck (or a whole deck) devoted to staterooms for physically challenged passengers, with connecting single cabins in between for their traveling companions (they could also be sold as singles.

The concept of a single BALCONY cabin sounds interesting. Try maybe half a dozen or so, and if the idea is a hit, build more on the next ship.....

and finally...

An alternative restaurant that's something other than Italian or French, or lately, Asian. Something different like Belgian or South American or even Ethiopian!
