Hi everyone! I was just checking out RCI's web site and they have announced the names for their next three ships. In the Radiance class they will be the Serenade of the Seas and Jewel of the Seas and in the Voyager class the next will be Navigator of the Seas. No word as of yet on the last of this class. [LIST]

Hey,
I'm not sure if I like Jewel of the Seas and Serenade of the Seas, but I do like Navigator of the Seas. I like the names:

Discoverer of the Seas
Journey of the Seas
Pioneer(er) of the Seas
Challenger of the Seas

I read the next one in the Voyager class will be the Journey of the Seas and Navigator would be number five.

I find it very hard to believe that they would call a ship that!

Has anyone else noticed, that the names of so many ships are also the names of cars? Navigator, Explorer, Mercury, Century, Galaxy, Voyager, Horizon, Infinity etc. Is Summit one? It sounds like a good name for an S.U.V.
And what is up with Sun and Star? You have the Star Princess the Sun Princess, the Norwegian Star and Norwegian Sun.
I like Voyager, Navigator, Explorer and Adventure of the Seas. I LOVE Radiance of the Seas. Not sure about Jewel of the Seas. Sounds too much like the movie "Jewel of the Nile". I think Treasure of the Seas would be better. Don't even get me started on the new Holland A. names

What is honestly so bad about the new HAL ship names? They had intended to used the name Zuiderdam once before on a ship that was lost in WW Two before it entered service for them while Oosterdam was used on a cargo ship just without the "dam" but a "dijk" suffex instead.

Eagle (formerly AMC) used to make a Summit. They had both sedans and station wagons.

I agree with you Mercy. I think Jewel of the Seas is a bit odd sounding. I like Treasure of the Seas. I also like all of Beezo's names. I thought RCI waws trying to keep a trend in naming its different classes.

Monarch of the Seas (taken from Gilbert and Sullivan), then the "twin" ships for these were other names for royalty.
Then the Enchantment series.
The Voyager class all had to have exploration as a theme.
I guess the Radiance class ships all have "shine" as in gemstones as a theme - Radiance, Brillance. But then, Seranade breaks the trend. They should have a "Name the Ship" contest with a free cruise as a reward!!!
