maritimematters say that the "Sun" sunk 25th 07.01. at 7.05 pm. Beside all the questions why ships sunk to the way of their last destination, I would like to know if someone made pictures of her last hours.Thanks for informations. Werner

I've no idea? But I have seen some excellent pictures (in terms of quality not content) of previous ships sinking on their way to be scrapped.

Anyone got some?

I have 2 photos of the "Doric" which I took in 1983 when she was tied up on Front Street, Hamilton, Bermuda.
One shot is foward aand fairly good, the other aft and fairly poor.

Unfortunaley, I'm not smart enough to get the pic's into here, so I e-mailed them to Joe G. & company as attachments and asked them if they could place them here for me.

Well, it's a try!!!!

When I saw the Britanis sinking, its keel looked like it would have sank any minute!
Such maltreatment!

As for the Seabreeze, since no lives were llost, I made computer files with the ship sinking, with text messages joking about when Aunt Tina siled on it.

MS EUROPA....

April 26, 2001: the former ENGLAND (a DFDS ferry), enroute via tow to Indian Shipbreakers sank in the Red Sea in a depth of 450 meters. There were no injuries or loss of life.

I remember another one: Filipinas Saudia 1
(Ex Pasteur, ex Bremen, ex Regina Magna) sunk in the Indian Ocean on June 9th (thr year i dont know anymor but it happend probably in 1980. The German magazine "Stern" published in 1980 7 emotional pictures of this sinking ship

Let's not forget CONSTITUTION in 1998? enroute to China sank north of the Hawaiian Islands and while not going for scrap, the ex AMERICA lost on the Canary Islands while under tow.

The saddest question is which indeed will be next? When with Mr. Mayer say enough with the UNITED STATES and send her away forever? Wasn't he part of Commodore? If so, sn't that Line's demise going to hurt his ability to sit on the Big U any longer?
