cruise talk dinner table:

If the following cruise talkers were all on the same ship, this is how I would assign dining tables based on compatibility and interests from reading their posts.

If I forgot anyone I am sorry.

How clever of you!! I'm happy with my table :-) Late seating please... or better yet, open seating with assigned tables.

Which cruise ship and when do we leave. I take it you have already paid for our passage as well. By the way this does mean our better halves are also seayted at these assigned tables.

lol - a very interesting topic!

Its like going to a wedding and seeing who you are sitting with! I wonder how you decided who exactly would go with who, and who gets the honour of the Captains' Tables (i.e. Joe and Malcolm)?

Don't cry Marcia! You have been assigned to the 'alternative' dining room for a spot of 'freestyle'!

Hi Guys !

Thank you Desirod, I would be delighted with my tablemates. Barryboat and I could spend hours talking about Ocean liners.

Boy, imagine if we were all together on the same ship !!!!!!!! It would give NEW meaning to cruising FIRST CLASS

HMmmm...... You could have started somthing here !

I wonder if we ALL could organize a "Cruise Talk" cruise ? You know, get Joe to work on getting us all on the same ship at one time !

Cool huh ? Let's do it !!!!!!!!!!!

Kbozman.

Ok, I'll take the bait.

Second seating is fine with me, but what ship are we on and what is the itinerary so that we can truly engage in this roll-playing fantasy cruise?

Will Joe at Travelpage step up and be the host? (or Cruise Director)

Barryboat

I wonder what our initial dinner conversation will be like at my table?? Who would like to begin and what will the topic be?

What are we having for dinner the first evening?

Here's what's on the menu:

Soups: Minestrone, Parmesan Cheese

Fish: Fried Fillet of Lemon Sole, Sauce Tartare, Cole Slaw

Roasts: Chicken Cow Mein, Fried Noodles, Steamed Rice From the Grill: Frikadelle, Smothered Onions

Vegitables: Mashed Carrots, Wax Beans,

Potatoes: Parsley or Mashed

Salads: Lettuce, Sliced Tomato Salad, French Dressing Dressings: French or Roquefort

Compotes: Preserved Mixed Fruit

Desserts: Bavarian Cream Pie, French Ice Cream, Wafers

Cheese: Assorted Cheese with Toasted Crackers

White or Rye Bread

Fresh Fruit in Season

Coffee, Tea, Fresh Milk

(This menu was taken from the SS United States, Wednesday, October 8th, 1969. There was a bit more at the top of the menu...probably appetizers, but it was torn off so use your imagination)

I'm ready! I think it would be kind of neat for all of us to be on the same ship! They do check weapons at the gangplank, don't they? They're trying to organize a group over on the C.Critic board for the FOD crowd, but as one can imagine, it's difficult to get anyone to agree on a ship, etc.
I, for one, would like to suggest trying to book on the QM2 ! I know the inaugural is sold out (apparently several times over), but 2-3 years should be enough time for us all to decide, and then to save up enough money. I suggest that our table get together and get one of the best Penthouse suites (1500 sq ft) and it would probably hold 6 guys - imagine the parade to dinner everynight (mental pic of 6 dapper guys in tails, tap-dancing to "Puttin' on the Ritz" down the hallway & stairs to the Queen's Grill). Of course we could just dine ensuite... ahh - dreams...

Malcolm

Maybe we get'll "lucky" and get an invitation to sit at the Captain's table
Naw, I don't think my jeans or sneakers would impress the Captain Maybe if I buff and polish them You just can't take us New Jersey folks "off the farm".
Marcia, we'll start our "own" table group and invite everyone else!

Regards...Bob

Hi shiplovers,
I am surprised that no one has suggested a cruise on an older vessel? Why not the ss Rotterdam (ex big redIII(???) if we can't get her to sail, then a romantic candle lite dinner on deck in Freeport.
Barryboat, why only fantasy, what are you affraid of?
The dinner menu you published, show very little imagination, looks to me like taken from a trucker's stop-Diner......
