Which Cruise Lines from the United States, Europe, and Asia use which symbol?

- Airtours - British
- Costa Cruises - Italian
- Cunard Line - British
- Holland-America Line - Dutch
- Seabourne Line - American
- Windstar Cruises - American

Royal Carribean International - American
- Celebrity Cruises - American

- P&O Princess - American

Star Cruises - Singaporean
- Norwegian Cruise Line - Norwegian (Star)

Hapag Lloyd - German

Fred.Olsen - Norwegian

HAL has their lifeboat drills right out on deck, Jesse. As far as I remember, there are no lifeboat symbols, just lifeboat #'s on signs on the ceiling of the deck. On the back of your cabin door, your lifeboat # & colour, red or green - meaning either port or starboard, is listed and also drill instructions. Everything is written in English.

The "family sign" indicates a passenger muster station (place where passengers are gathered in the event of an emergency), and can be found on a public lounge (like on board most ships) or on an open deck (like on the Destiny and Spirit class ships). The "lifeboat sign" indicates a lifeboat embarkation station (place from where the lifeboats are boarded). These signs are international and they are used on all ships, regardless the area where they are sailing or the flag they are flying. HAL is the only company I know where passengers are not assigned to a muster station but to a lifeboat directly. This means that on the back of their cabin doors or on their lifejackets, passengers will find a number instead of a letter.

I saw a picture of a muster station sign on a loung of a Holland-America Ship photo, complete with the family sign. I guess then each station is assigned to a lifeboat, which sums thing up.

Oh yea, they should have Muster Stations that are both indoor and outdoor. The indoors have the family sign, outdoors have the Family Sign with a sun above them or a lifeboat next to them.

Is that a great idea?

Jesse - you said "I saw a picture of a muster station sign on a loung of a Holland-America Ship photo, complete with the family sign. I guess then each station is assigned to a lifeboat, which sums thing up.Jesse.

Jesse - I would like to see that picure if you can put it on this forum. I have never seen a muster station sign in a lounge of a HAL ship. As Ryndam and I said, HAL does NOT have muster stations inside the ship. We go directly to the Lifeboat station out on either the Promenade or Lower Promenade decks. There are no muster station inside the ship.

I agree with Sympatico, on all of our HAL cruises we have mustered at our lifeboat station. In addition to HAL, we have also done this with Disney and NCL - outside on the deck in front/below our boat.

On the MS Rotterdam, I found a photoalbum, but I cannot find the photo! http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=482773&a=4285803

It was some lounge or restauraunt and it had a man talking and the Muster Station Label was on couch.

Maybe it was another ship, not the Rotterdam?
I know the photo exists in the album.

Jesse - I have gone through all the photos of the Rotterdam that you mentioned (even used a magnifying glass) and there is no picture of a man talking or a muster station sign on a couch in any of them. I think you have the wrong ship. Try going back and looking again. As Joe and I have said - NO muster station signs on HAL ships!
