Hi you guys! I have been away for a while - busy at work, not traveling . Malcolm, I have been to the Surfcomber - check out port of call section for response.

I am checking out a cruise for next summer. Since I teach, this is when I travel and cruise. After cruising several times, I am running out of places to go!!! I have been to Alaska, have cruised all over the Caribbean. Love Caribbean cruises but all the cruise lines go to the same places in the summer.

I wish the cruise lines would offer more creative summer itin.

Thinking about sailing to Bermuda. Can you recommend a good Bermuda cruise? Other alternative, to do the eastern or southern Caribbean on a brand new ship. Any ideas?

How about the Med.? We took a cruise out of Barcelona, Spain and when to Marseilles, Fr., Livorno (Pisa and Florence), Naples (Pompeii, Isle of Capri), Venice (2 days), Messina, Sicily, Cicitavecchia (Rome) then to Villefranche (Monte Carlo and back to Barcelona and home. Be sure to spend a couple of days in Barcelona before sailing. This was a wonderful cruise. Went on RCCL.

Think about an Cruise in Northern Europe,
either to the Baltic Sea (from Amsterdam
to Kopenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburgh, Gdansk, Rostock and back)

or to the North Cape, Spitzbergen, Iceland

or round Britain and Ireland

or as an Alternative an River Cruise on
Dnepr, Volga, Rhine, Danube.

It is so much to do in Europe...

...and in Summer is an good time to do this.

The Caribbean is more for Winter Time.

Actually, my other alternative would be to go to Europe...but not on a cruise. I don't think I could do justice to Rome in a day. I am seriously looking into a 17 day land trip accross Europe. But I also wanted to look into a cruise possibility as well. That's why I limited my cruise questions to Bermuda and the Caribbean.

Celebrity and a few other lines offer numerous cruises to South America. There's also Antarctica, or maybe the Hawaiian Islands or Tahiti. I hope someday to visit all these places, plus Australia (my dream).Europe is where I plan for next year, but I can't figure which countries I want to experience first. Hope someday to visit them all

I am a tough customer because I have spent 3 weeks on a land tour of Australia (fantastic country and wonderful people - you'll love it) I have been to Hawaii twice, and the South American cruises sound facinating, but they only do these in North America's winter, when I cannot go since I am teaching then.

As far as cruises for next summer, I am limiting my self to two areas: Bermuda and the Caribbean. Bermuda because I have never been there before but my brother has and he says its wonderful - great beaches, great snorkling - I am a snorkle fanatic!, etc.
The Caribbean is also a possibility, although I have been around the Caribbean a lot, my sister-in-law is interested in us organizing a family cruise. She is interested in the Eastern Caribbean.

If I am lucky enough I may be able to do a "twofer" - two vacations in one summer! Perhaps a short trip to Europe in June and a cruise to Bermuda in July. I work extra teaching jobs and I have already started saving! This past summer I was able to do two cruises.

So, can anyone give me any advice about which lines cruise to Bermuda and what you consider to be the best Bermuda cruises.

I'm with you on the Caribbean. I'm doing a repositioning cruise on the Zenith this Oct. I'll be stopping at Bermuda for one day only, but I hope we can make it back soon. Having sailed with Celebrity several times, I would recommend them for Bermuda. NCL and RCI also do 7 day loops to Bermuda, but Celebrity IMHO is a much better choice. I'm not sure if Princess (P & O owned) will station a replacement ship for the Pacific Princess to Bermuda in 2002. Rumors have the Royal Princess, but who knows? Have fun choosing

Regards...Bob

Why not try some American destinations? The Mississippi River system, East Coast, Alaska, and the Great Lakes are all wonderful destinations and are all available in the summer. A cruise with Delta Queen Steamboat Co. is an experience you will not be able to find anywhere else in the world. The east coast, besides being beautiful, has more history than any place other region of the US, Alaska is a great destination if you take a small ship cruise, from what people have told me if you take a large ship you'll miss out on the best of Alaska, and although the Great Lakes are still developing as a destination they offer far more than most people realize.

Thank you for the wonderful information. I will check out Celebrity for Bermuda. I live near the Mississippi River and it is a shame I have never done a river cruise before. I bet it would be a lobe of fun.

I have sailed the small ships (marine ferry) in the Inside Passage before and they are fantastic! Not as fancy but very intimate and they could go into passages the large cruise ships could not go. Also you could get off and stay as long as you wanted in the ports.
