Hi everybody,

Here's a short note from the Zaandam.

So far everything is great.
The ship is excellent, except for the atrium. This is the most ugly thing i've ever seen on a Hal ship.

The ship is very much like the Rotterdam. The only difference is that everything is so much brighter (Red Carpets, instead of blue)on this ship.

The weather is good and i'm on my way to Willemstad, Curacao.

I will post a full review when i'm back in the Netherlands in February.

I will visit cruisetalk about every two days while i'm on the ship, so if you have any questions, please ask them.

Bernard, MS Zaandam, Caribbean sea.

Hi - Great that you are enjoying the trip.
We were on the Zaandam in October (Panama Canal) and darned near froze to death in several areas - the awful atrium, the Lido restaurant and the theatre - shivered through Pearl Harbor wrapped in the big blue towels - have things improved?

Some cabins on Lower Prom had problems with LACK OF COOLING! No rhyme or reason it seemed.

Wait Staff cut backs?

Let's hear the good and the not so good.

Happy cruisin'

While we agree with you on the ugly Atrium, we loved the Zaandam last year. We thought the food was exceptional. Is Chef Wolfgang Nasshausen still on board? We also liked the musicians in the lounges. Only wish that was a real pipe organ in the Atrium played by a real musician. Enjoy your cruise.

Hi again,

There are no problems with Aircoconditioners anymore. The temperature aboard is excellent.

Yesterday i saw the atrium-organ play for the first time. I almost jumped overboard.

Today i am in La Guaria, Venezuela. I staying on the ship because i've seen this country before and i'm not a big fan.

Yesterday we left Curacao with a Fireworks display which was excellent.

The ship is sailing very smoothly and the crew is one of the most friendly i've ever seen. Much better than the crew of the Rotterdam in 2000.

Tomorrow i will be in Trinidad. I've heard a lot of positive things about this island.

Cheers from the Zaandam.

Bernard, Ms Zaandam, Venezuela.

Dolphins: The chef is still onboard.

Bernard,

How is the food and service in the dining room? Have they learned your preferences yet?

Hi Bernard, thanks for taking the time to visit CruiseTalk during your cruise.

I can appreciate the difficulties and expense of getting on-line while onboard a ship. Is Internet access on the Zaandam easy and well organised?

Hi again,

Right now I'm in St Thomas next to the Radiance of the seas and the Nordic Empress.

The weather is great.

Tomorrow we will have a full day at sea and after that we will go to Half moon Cay.

I had a little luck in the casino so i already booked my next cruise to Canada and New England on the Rotterdam in October.

Malcolm: The internet service aboard the Zaandam is excellent. The charge is $0.50 per minute.

I leave the ship in Fort Lauderdale on January 23.
I will stay in Fort Lauderdale for 8 more days so i can do some excellent Cruise-ship spotting.

When i'm back in the Netherlands i will post a full review of this trip. I will post around February the 4th.

I will check cruisetalk again tomorrow.

Bernard, Ms Zaandam, St. Thomas,USVI
