I did a transatlantic on the Whisper last fall. Had no problems, and we did have some fairly heavy seas (tail-ends of a couple of hurricanes).

Best buy in tablets is a large (100-tab) bottle of meclizine. This is the generic equivalent of Bonine. You have to ask the pharmacist for it, but it costs about the same as the small packages of Bonine displayed on the shelves.

Take DIMENHYDRINAT 50 mg.

This is the Name of the Substance.

Buy the cheapest Offer you can get.

I buy it for my Wife since a lot of Years with great Sucess.

Dosis: 3 x 1, max. 6 Tablets/Day.

Start 30 Minutes, before you leave the Port.

Advice?
Just because you paid for it does not mean that you have to eat everything in sight at every meal! - let your tummy 'tune in' to all the 'goodies'!

Eat lightly for the first couple of days!

Happy cruisin'

Where are you headed on this sailing? Hopefully, you will have smoothe seas. I would expect a ship of this caliber would have a doctor on board who would provide a shot at little or no cost. However, some of these motion sickness medications may make you drowsy; so, you want to be careful that you don't miss a portion of the day sleeping it off. I am sure there are others here who can advise you regarding what the best approach is. I understand that bonine (aka meclizine} is effective, buit again not sure whether it induces drowsiness?? I bought some for my last transatlantic crossing, but never had to use it. Good Luck and enjoy your cruise!

I have used Bonamine (Bonine) which is the same as Meclizine many times and it has never made me drowsy like Gravol does.
Bonamine in Canada, Bonine in US. - go figure!

The UK equivalent of Bonine are Sea Legs, I have taken Bonine in the past and they are excellent, but the last few cruises I have'nt bothered, must have my "sea legs" by now the rougher it gets the more I like it, but if you are a first time sailor get the Bonine AKA Sea Legs just for reassurance.

Cheers
M.
