Hello,

Following the lead of Malcom (best napkins) and sread (best toiletries) I present my very own entirely frivolous "best" thread:

Which ship has the best toiletries?

You know, all those little bars of soap, bottles of shampoo, and so on?

I, for one, don't know much. Firstly, I don't think I'd be able to identify a really good toiletry in the first place. Mine consist of a bar of Ivory soap and some shampoo of whatever type was on sale that week. But I am sure that some of you out there are real toiletry connoiseurs, so which ships have the nicest ones?

I've yet to find one that was unsatisfactory - if soap and some sort of shampoo (I could care less what kind) is provided that is OK.

But what are your opinions on shipboard toiletries? I imagine some of the very fancy lines have very fancy toiletries to match? And do you have any funny toiletry stories (Sorry this is beginning to sound like a form letter...)?

Happy Cruising,
Cruiseny

P&O's Aurora ... you get all the usual bottles etc, but in a very attractive drawbag. Handy for guest rooms!

I have always been pleased with the small bottles of shampoo and lotion provided by HAL.

A couple of times when we were on the Nieuw Amsterdam in an A Suite, we were given Gucci products. Haven't seen them for a long time. I think HAL's toiletries are just fine

Once again I have to nominate Silversea (just about everything on this ship was exceptional). Silversea uses Bvlgari products for soaps, shampoos and lotions. Very nice stuff, and the packaging is beautiful. This was one of the few times I actually took some of the products home with me.

Runner up.... The St. Tropez suite on GOLDEN PRINCESS. We had a beautiful line up of lotions, soaps, shampoos, etc. in very nice blue Princess bottles (all displayed above the jacuzzi tub). The standard cabins are subjected to the disposable paper flasks for shampoo which I do not enjoy. We also enjoyed upgraded towels which I even liked over Silversea. They were huge, and ribbed to make them extra thick. Our friends were quite jealous when they came over to visit. Of course they could also weigh themselves on our scale and enjoy the canapé's that were delivered every night at 5pm.

I remember the Gucci toilet articles, also. We were provided with a lovely sampling of soap, shampoo, body lotion etc on Noordam. Have never seen them since on HAL.

On Pacific Sky in march this year out of Sydney guess what you actually get the small soaps you get in motels and nothing else, on P&0 in Australia you get absoloutly nothing.

Well on Carnival I got a basket of goodies along with the bar of soap. In the basket included: tums, cream savers, mint skittles, two packages of shaving razers, some hair styling packages, and clairol shampoo and conditioner. All were sampling size but pretty handy!

Hello,

Ravster, that is relatively new for Carnival. They used to be famous for giving only soap and towels.

I find the inclusion of Skittles rather odd though... Maybe breath mints I could see...

Happy Cruising,
Cruiseny
