Just dragged the suitcase out and ready to pack before flying out on Saturday 1 Nov to Italy for my cruise on MSC's "Melody" on 11 November from Genoa. Some new ports of call for me - particularly Kusadasi, Istanbul, Athens, Volos and Valletta. I am not expecting to see many other cruise ships in any of the 7 ports as it is fairly late in the Med season - but will keep an eye out anyway.

Many thanks to those of you who responded with port excursion suggestions and encouraged me to still sail on Melody, despite some differing opinions. I will be happy to be on a "real" ship i.e. one without ice skating rinks and rock climbing walls, and am looking forward to experiencing my first Italian cruise line.

Will post my thoughts on the cruise when I return late November (and when I have recovered from a bout of post-cruise depression!)

Bon Voyage to you too bmajor!! This is the inaugural cruise out of Sydney that you are taking isn't it? Lucky you!

Regretably, the day you return to Sydney - 28th November is my first day back at work, so I won't be able to be there to watch you sail in, but have a great time and I look forward to hearing of your impressions of the ship and the cruise.
