I'm usually able to recognize a passenger ship almost instantly, even from a distance, but there is a ship in Miami today that evades me. I know the list can help!

There are two views, one from the bow of NORWEGIAN SUN, and the other of the entire port. The links are:

http://www.kroooz-cams.com/ncl_sun/12-29-01.htm

http://www.kroooz-cams.com/ports/miami.htm

Any takers on what ship this is? Hopefully it's not something too easy that will embarrass me.

Best,

It seems to be a Hapag-Llyod ship, I'm not sure.

I've just been told on another list that it is Hapag Lloyds COLUMBUS.

Good to know, and I'm sure she is not a frequent visitor to Miami. I certainly like the foredeck and bridge structure.

I think I will check out the Hapag Lloyd website for better pictures.

Thanks for responding!

There are some nice photos on the simplon site.
If you go follow the Port of Miami link on the left there's a daily dock report She sails at 6pm for Nassau.

It is Hapag-Lloyd.
I think, it is the 14000 Tons COLUMBUS.
She is rated 3 Stars and a Plus and belongs to the cheap Segment of Hapag-Lloyd.

The Standard is much under Europa or Hanseatic.

Small Cabins, small Pool, small Deck Space,
fairly good Food,

Pax Ratio is 2,4
Space Ratio is 35

and she is able to cruise in the Great Lakes in Canada. Now, i think, she would go into Caribbean Destinations. The Indian Summer is over...

- did I miss it? We never did have Indian summer here in Southern Ontario this year, in fact yesterday we had SNOW - the earliest in 65 years.

And here we are on the West Coast, sunny and 11 degrees (52 F). The driest summer and fall in 50 years!

Sunny and chilly here in Atlanta. Only a high of 60 F today. Should be in the 70's, but no rain to speak of.

We have been suffering with a drought for 3-4 years now. Water restrictions have been in place for quite a while, with no end in sight.

Eroller, well you already know that, but fisically I saw the Columbus lineup with Norwegian Sun ,Explorer of the Seas, and two Carnival ships the Imagination and the Carnival Triumph, believe me the Columbus look like a dingy next to thoses mega-ships,not too often,on saturdays, you see 5 cruise ships in Port of Miami,FG.

Hey come on! FG only left out the 'h'! Dinghy. She's tiny compared to all the others in the line up. 6 and more times smaller.

It is not possible, that she is in an poor Shape, Hapag Lloyd handles all her Ships well.

The Weather this Year is funny. In Eastern Germany we had the Flood-Catastrophe, and our stupid Schröder runs with his Rubbershoes through the Cities and Villages and promised Help...

...now he has about 6700 Votes more than Edmund Stoiber of CDU/CSU and is Chancellor again.

A further Catastrophe for our Country...

I'm sorry typing dingy instead of dinghy,by the way the Columbus looks very distinguised as an old ship,Cruiseny is jealous because the weather down here is so nice, 75 degrees and sunny, and watching 5 cruise ships in a row,not to many port around the world have that chance,FG.

The Columbus just finished her Great Lakes cruises for the season earlier in October. Four for North American passengers and two for Germans. I was able to see her in Chicago last month and she is a very nice looking ship. For pictures of that visit see my photo gallery: Great Lakes Cruise Ships III

In Miami she may be a dinghy but on the Great Lakes we think of the Columbus more as a megaship!

She is a nice little ship to look at in person. I saw her in Baltimore a while back when HAL Amsterdam was making her first calls on the east coast. There were hundreds of TA's flocking to the Amsterdam to see HAL's newest baby, and I was trying to get on Columbus, but no luck. I really like the small ones. NCL Leeward still was one of my favorites. Just a sleek little profile.
