I found a few MSC Lirica pictures and thought the ship looks weird.

Thanks for sharing. I agree the aft end looks a little odd, but certainly better then her sisters SSM and the Festival trio.

The forward superstructure reminds me of the Fantasy Class ships of Carnival.

Best,
Ernie

I always found the proportions of the Festival trio not to be in balance. Too long a mid section that is responsible for unity of the bow and stern section to brake up. The same goes for the layout of the ship it’s based on a horizontal configuration.

Hope that Lirica isn’t that disproportionate.

Best, Onno

What I don't understand is why anyone would build a ship that large, with so many cabins located on upper decks- and not build balconies!? That is just poor planning and short sightedness.

BTW, I think the stern looks like a cross between the Mistral's and the Radiance OTS's.

thank you guys! that was a really nice present for me! I wanted to know if this ship is a good job or just a fake. I cruised on Mistral and on the European Vison(g8 event!)and I think they worked on her external style. Now the original look changed and that ship will look deffinately much better than the other. The internal rooms are not that much changed cause it was intimate, deluxe and comfortable. Now I am waiting for her cruise start. I am only scared cause of the MSC Cruises service that on the remaining ships of the fleet seemed to be really scary (kinda not enough food/water/entartainment and pay for workers!)... Time will tell... Thank you so much for the links all of you posted you made me an happy man! thank you! Cheren

To Cheren - I was surprised about your comments re the other MSC ships. Have you been on any of them? I have been on three mediterranean cruises with MSC and the food and service are second to none. I have travelled on most of the cruise lines and although the interior decoration of MSC ships may not be so luxurious, the food and the personnel were just as good as any luxury liner. I do hate it when people make derogatory comments about service when they have never experienced it.

beebee - agree wholeheartedly with your comments. It is only 6 weeks since my Med cruise on 'Melody' and I could not fault the service, the food was excellent and the staff seemed very happy.

I was thinking of a 'Lirica' cruise this year, but believe with the 2 newbuilds, that 'Monterey' may leave MSC's service next year. As it is a classic steam-driven ship, I'm thinking of cruising on her before she disappears.

From the image above I can admit that the Lirca design is an improvement over the Festival ships. Lirca has a better forward superstructure, stern, and funnel design.

However, she is still no beauty... terrible proportions, boxy shape, weird stern. This is what happens when you mass produce cruise ships.
