I know in a few previous threads, there were many ideas of how ships will look with different parts(funnels, hull colors, aft, etc.). Does anyone have any to share?

I think it would be nice if someone could use parts of different ships and create something new.

I have spent the last hour trying but I am finding it quite hard to find photos of the ships at nearly the same angle and scale. I did although come up with a lager Dawn/Saggitarius ship for Star but it's failry similar to your Norwegian Oddyssy design with the exception of two new decks. Do you want me to post it?

Wow! That is pretty nice. I think the dark hull looks great on the Grand princess!

Great Job

Sure. I would love to see your design. Here's mine:

Draikar: very nice! Do you think you can give it a straight mast?

Hi,

This is my idea for a new Star/NCL vessel. As I said earlier it is similar to Keitaro's "Norwegian Odyssy" with the addition of two more full length decks.

Well I did this prototype of an early Canberra a while back but it could also fit in this topic. A real sister ship of the 60’s Oriana.

Best, Onno

Very nice kevin. I actually like yours better by keeping the big front windows.

Hmm... The funnel looks a little small. Maybe something a bit bigger could be grafted on?

That latticework "thing" behind it is stilly ugly too (and makes it look smaller).

Oh well, the funnel looks great on the ship it was intended for (though it would be best in buff with a big blue "V" on it like it was made to be).

When I first saw the Saggitarius design that uper front superstructure really inpressed me.

Onno, your picture is great! I always like looking at the designs you make because they are so realistic.

Here is a alteration of the Sun Viking I just finnished. I basically lengthened it and added two new balcony decks.

Kevin, by any chance, did the balconies come from RCI's Vision-class?

Good looking ship! I like it. I have always liked the looks of the SONG OF NORWAY class ships.... and with what you have done as well.

Your welcome Kevin, I also enjoy making them!

Actually lengthening the Sun Viking is not that bad, makes her appear more sleek, I’m not sure about the extra decks of balconies (maybe because I have no affection with them.)

Best, Onno

OK... Being the Sitmar freak that I am... What would you do to turn PRINCIPE PERFIETO into FAIRSKY as was intended?

I have seen a small painting (with a very exaggerated perspective) but that is it.

I think she could have been even better-looking than FAIRSEA/FAIRWIND...

From Kevin's Altered Designs gallery:

You say:

quote:
Possible CostaOlympia if hull not sold to NCL.

To my surprise, NORWEGIAN SKY does not look bad with a Costa funnel. If she were COSTA OLYMPIA, though, she would have been identical to VICTORIA, or at the very least, the only change would have been balconies like those in your image.

Certainly the "Concorde Plaza" overlooking the bow would have stayed.

Yes they are! I got them from a picture of Vision of the Seas.

Thanks. I agree that it was a very nice class of ships. Last night I found a great picture of Nordic Prince in a RCI Mexico brochure from 1994.

In a book of mine called the "Pictorial Encyclopedia of Ocean Liners, 1860-1994" by William H. Miller, Jr. it says that the Costa Victoria would be 70,000grt and the another unnamed-at-the-time Costa ship (presumably Costa Olympia) would be 78,000grt. Although they are said to be different tonnage in the book they have the same pax - 1900. Could the extra balconies add this weight or could this be a plan difference that was later changed?

Very nice Draikar. What program do you use to design your ships? They look very professional!

Just for fun....A COSTA CLASSICA s-t-r-e-c-t-c-h and a ARCADIA observation lounge. I know its bad, but a quick edit.
