Ok, there has been a lot of discussion about the name - some of you like it, some of you hate it.

Any thoughts on what Cunard's plans are for the interiors of this ship? After all, she was originally slated to be part of the HAL fleet as one of the Vista-class ships.

Do you think Cunard will change the layout and decor signficantly from that found on the HAL ships or will she be more or less the same design in different colors?

I think her interiors will be redesigned with a Cunard British heritage look like the QM2 will have then the HAL interiors she was to have as a HAL ship.

I'm not certain how much different her interior layout will be, but the decor will be completely different then the HAL newbuilds. No worries of finding the reds, oranges, purples, etc. of ZUIDERDAM onboard the new Cunarder.

Interestingly enough, I don't think the decor will be traditional British as one might think. Something decidedly more modern is what I have heard, which is surprising considering who the ship is marketed for. No traditional Stephen Card paintings will adorn this ship as on QM2, and I don't think Cunard is going for anything traditional on this newbuild..

I think the interiors would be a mix of the the QE2 and the QM2 interiors, the main point being the British feel, but still have a blend of oceanliner feel. I am pretty sure Cunard/Carnival did change her exterior appearance with a lounge-like room in front of the funnel. I don't think the interior layout would be much different other than illuminating some rooms and/or enlarging some rooms.

If they go for something contemporary, and it's anything like the interiors of the Celebrity M-Class ships, I'll be happy enough about that to (possibly ) forgive the name (and the fact that it is a cookie cutter ship).

Think P&O AURORA in decor. Modern, but classy for the most part.

Was curious about the status of the QV currently under construction, so I decided to bring back this thread from the grave. Are any major modifications being made to the Vista class or original QV designs? How far has her building progressed? She's due in 2007, correct? I haven't seen much of her recently, aside from the last page of Cunard's brochure....

There’s been so many threads on QUEEN VICTORIA it is sometimes hard to remember what’s going on. Anyway...I can tell you, from the info I have gathered (and without identifying my source), that QV’s plans have been completed and that she will be built in two phases. The bow section is actually being built at the moment, unless of course it has already been finished. The rest of the ship will be constructed during 2007 because work at the Marghera yard needs to concentrate on hull 6129 (CARNIVAL FREEDOM), which has to be delivered in February 2007. QV’s delivery date is still December 2007.

She’ll have a lengthened Vista-class (Spirit-class) hull and modifications for better sea-keeping. These may include a set of four stabilizer fins instead of the normal two, but I cannot confirm this. As for her looks there’s been some discussion in this thread: Question for Onno, where Chris Cunard was asking Onno about his QV design. If I can source more info I’ll post it, but the people on this project are keeping things a bit close to their chests.

******

Cheers

How about some suggestions for the names of Public Rooms?

The Osborne Room.
Designed around elements of Osborne House.
Very elegant and contemporary, cream on cream, highlighted with subtle Royal colours .

The Durbar Room.
Very colourful with gentle suggestions of the Raj .(Similar to the Bengal Room on Regal Princess, but toned down)

The Pavillion Buffet.
Based on elements from the Royal Pavillion at Brighton, which Queen Vic sold to move to Osborne House.

The Cowes Bar.
Introduce a Maritime theme.

Just a few thoughts.
The designers certainly have a lot to play with.
Whatever it's decor ..
I think it deserves a very unique interior.
