Maybe becuase Princess is still part of the "P&O Princess" division? Because the "sun" logo is still displayed and the P&O flag are still flown? Because the Wheelhouse bar still displays a museum of P&O memorabilia? Or is Carnival planning on breaking the division in half. DAMN CARNIVAL!

I never expected Ocean Village to have it.
As for ocean village not having it, if you notice that now Ocean Village has come along with a brochure full of young people, P&O now make its brochure full of over 60s. Seems like they are trying to make P&O into a classical cruise line with old traditions and this would put off Ocean Village Travellers.
Jusging by passenger numbers on Ocean Village there is no need to use P&O as an attraction to cruise with them like they did at first.
So then is Princess going to stop flying the P&O flag? Is the sun logo going be taken off the bow?

No, Princess is still part of P&O/Princess and the ships will still fly the British ensign and still fly the P&O house flag. None of the other brands of Carnival (Cunard, Costa, Holland America, Seabourn, Windstar) fly the Carnival house flag. They each fly their own perspective flag. Only Carnival ships fly the Carnival flag and I don't see this changing. I think the reason that "P&O" was removed (or airbrushed out on the brochures) has nothing to do with Carnival. Carnival owns the name P&O Cruises now and certainly can keep the P&O on the side of the Princess ships if they want to. I think Princess was trying to distance itself from the P&O name long before Carnival came along. They wanted a completely separate identity when they came up with "Personal Choice" and "where i belong". Princess wants to be thought of as modern and innovative, not associated with something old and traditional....... however misguided that may be.
Carnival Corp. is very good at one thing, they don't push their corporate culture or identity on their other brands. They let them operate independently although all come under the Carnival umbrella. Don't look for any changes to Princess that Princess was not already considering before the merger.

Cruising in Britain does tend to be a little Geriatric: P&O, Cunard and Olsen for example. Airtours attracted a slightly younger crowd, but still 40-50, I'd say.
Yes, Ocean Village is aimed at the younger age groups.
Even after P&O decided to spin-off their cruise business several years ago and P&O/Princess was formed, I can still understand why the Princess ships were flying the P&O flag and the P&O letters on their hulls, after all P&O was part of their corporate name.
Here is where I begin to get confused. Now that P&O/Princess has merged with Carnival Corp. and has been from P&O/Princess to Carnival UK, why would the P&O letters and flag still be displayed on the Princess ships? I can see it on the P&O Cruises ships but not on Princess ships. Princess Cruises is not P&O Cruises. Are not all these lines under the Carnival Corp. umbrella treated as seperate, with the exception of Seabourne (part of Cunard Line Ltd.) and Windstar Cruises (part of Holland America Line)? Will Princess Cruises always be looked at as part of P&O Cruises, even though they are the much larger line?
I'm also wondering if there is some deal that allows this new merged company to keep the P&O name and flag even if they are no longer associated with the original P&O (the UK shipping company), or are they still somehow associated? Several years ago Carnival Corp. announced they were having talks with P&O (pre spin-off of the cruise division) to buy the entire company. Carnival was only interested in the cruise ships and mentioned they would most likely sell off the rest of the business (construction, ferries, cargoships, ect) if successful. P&O denied at the time that any talks were going on and it never went any further. After P&O spun-off the cruise division I can see why P&O Cruises kept their flag and name but now it seems that P&O Cruises has no connection (other than past history) with P&O yet uses their name and house flag. Does any of my rambling make any sense?
Just as a side note, I saw both the P&O and Princess flags flying in front of the Carnival HQ here in Miami as I was driving by the other day. There is a nice circle of flag poles surrounding a Carnival funnel (not as big as one on their ships but still pretty big) in front of the building. It looks like all the Carnival Corp. lines are represented (HAL, Windstar, Seabourne, Costa, and Carnival). I didn't see the Cunard flag there but it probably is too. Now with the merger over I think they are going to need to add more flag poles if they plan on flying flags from Aida, A'rosa, ect. ect....!

It's a bit confusing, and even I don't understand it 100%. Bottom line, P&O, the company, spun off P&O/Princess, the cruise division, which really made them a great take-over target. When Carnival bought P&O/Princess... the also got the rights to the house flag, P&O Cruises name, etc. The original P&O still exists, but it is simply called P&O and is a separate company with no affiliation to Carnival.
The main reason Princess falls under P&O Cruises and will continue to do so is the fact that Carnival agreed to a separate stock listing for P&O/Princess on both the London (CCL) and NY (CUK) stock exchanges. This was to protect UK shareholder value, and without this agreement it's doubtful the Carnival purchase would have ever succeeded. I think Princess will remain under the P&O Cruises banner for quite sometime, along with all the other brands such as Seetours, Aida, A'Rosa, etc. The one flag of P&O/Princess will cover all these brands.
Thanks for the info about the flags in front of Carnival Place. I'm quite familiar with it as I used to work there. Beautiful office building... and I always loved the landscaping.
Best,Ernie
Huh? Whaaa...?????

EG: Carnival may mix and match the fleets - place Princess ships into Cunard if they will better suit that 'brand'.
God, I hope not!!!!
oh and by the way - the grand class of ships are so damn ugly they do not deserve to wear a Cunard funnel
Yeah no kidding!!!! Which is why I don't understand why you think "mixing and matching" from Princess into Cunard would be such a good idea, it would be a horrible idea!!!
