2,124-Passenger CARNIVAL MIRACLE to Serve as "Floating Hotel" for 2005 Super Bowl in Jacksonville

The 2,124-passenger Carnival Miracle has been selected by the Jacksonville Super Bowl Host Committee to serve as a "floating hotel" for guests attending Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville on February 6, 2005.

During Super Bowl XXXIX festivities, Carnival Miracle will be docked on the St. Johns River from Wednesday, February 2nd through Monday, February 7, 2005, near ALLTEL Stadium, the Super Bowl game site, and downtown Jacksonville's various dining and entertainment venues.

The Carnival Miracle provides the city of Jacksonville with an additional 1,062 rooms for Super Bowl guests. While onboard Super Bowl attendees can enjoy the ship's wide-ranging "resort-style" amenities, including a 14,500-square-foot health spa, and Internet café, jogging track, and four swimming pools.

Also housed within the ship's 12 passenger decks are 16 "themed" lounges and bars, including a sports bar, a 1,100-seat theater showcasing lavish Las Vegas-style entertainment, a two-level dance club, a piano bar and other live music venues.

Dining options include:
• A two-level formal restaurant
• An upscale "steakhouse-style" supper club
• An expansive poolside eatery offering casual alternatives for breakfast, lunch and dinner
• A 24-hour pizzeria
• Complimentary 24-hour stateroom service

The Miracle's deployment to Jacksonville for the 2005 Super Bowl, which was facilitated by Miami-based Landry and Kling, the exclusive management company for the Host Committee/NFL dockside ship housing, will mark a return of sorts for the 88,500-ton SuperLiner, which is currently under construction at the Kvaerner Masa-Yards in Helsinki, Finland.

Carnival Miracle will make its debut from Jacksonville March 1, 2004, operating 11 three-, five- and six-day voyages through April 17, 2004. Following a program of seven-day cruises from Baltimore, she will reposition to Tampa to operate week-long Caribbean sailings from that port beginning November 7, 2004.

I live outside of Jacksonville.

There are going to be other cruise ships leased. I've heard that negotiations are going on right now. This is a great concept. The shipboard facilities are needed to help host the Superbowl.

Some of the docking sites will be very convenient to the stadium and downtown.
