RCCL's site is down until Nov. Is the ENCHANTMENT OF THE SEAS doing 5 day cruises now??? I think it was supposed to replace the MONARCH OF THE SEAS. Please let me know when you can. Thank you for your kind assistance.

Yep, my friend has one booked for this December... I find this funny, why does the oldest ship, Nordic Empress, have all the long repositing and Bermuda/ 7night Caribbean cruises, while the newer EOS is doing 4 &5nighters!?

RANGERVR6178 - I think it's simply a matter of capacity. They can easily fill a ship much larger than NORDIC EMPRESS on the routes ENCHANTMENT now has... And so it's left to ENCHANTMENT, now a middle-aged ship within RCI, to take those.

Frankly if it weren't for Bermuda I don't think RCI would have NORDIC EMPRESS... And if they feel they could fill a bigger (VISION-class) ship on that run, and can get the local authorities to approve it, then I'd say sayonara to NORDIC EMPRESS.

Thank you for the info, I'm thinking that will be our next trip after the IMAGINATION.
Cruiseny you said:

That's a nice ship. And we have so few small ships out there, we could use more smaller ones. The big ones are still a bit much and our choices are getting more and more limited. I wish we had something like the Peter Dailman Cruise Line here. They keep their ships small and do very well with them.

We're going to try for the Nov. 10th sailing date. It's one day later than the cruise we were supposed to have taken on the SS NORWAY.
Which that ship, will always be my first pick. And yes, don't worry, I'll take lots of photos of the IMAGINATION's Atrium. Promise.

I don't think she's a BAD ship, just a very, well, average one.

Having been on her twice, what I really don't like about this ship is summed up by the following quote from this review:

"The ship felt very claustrophobic/close and over-loaded with people this afternoon, as more and more passengers embarked and more waited their turn in the passenger ship terminal. I wondered how they would all fit onboard and still be able to sail away. This, I suppose, is the true meaning of mass marketing."

She's not a small ship by any stretch of the imagination, and carries many too many passengers.

The only place to avoid being overrun by hordes of passengers is your cabin, and unless that's the Royal Suite, it's likely to be very small and not very inviting.

Besides that I do not think she is well-suited to the cruises she does. She was designed for the cheapo 3- and 4-day Bahamas run and while she was fantastic for that run, especially considering some of the old tubs she ran with, by now she'd be outclassed as almost anything, except maybe a British inclusive-tour ship (e.g. Airtours) or an Asian gambling boat (the latter a fate I would not wish on ANY vessel). In the US market, she's just not competitive.

If you like ships that size, there are still plenty of better choices, IMO.
