Could it be that things are improving on the Zuiderdam or is this a case of "rose colored glasses"?

Joe, I think it just depends why you are on board.
These people did have a very good time on board, in spite of the fact that some collumns blocked their view a little.

This certainly is NOT a case of 'rose colored glasses', I begin to believe that the previous review, written by someone else, was very 'black-glassed' or whatever that is called in English.

I have heard good and bad reports about the Zuiderdam and I think if you go with the perception that the ship will be terrible and you will not enjoy yourself, then that will be the way you see it.

I do think, however, that they have made a lot of changes for the better and people seem to be enjoying themselves. Most of the bad reports came back from those who sailed on the ship for the first few months.

There are also the nit-pickers, and no matter what, they will find something to complain about.

We are very much "traditional HAL type cruisers" and when we embarked on Zuiderdam, we had the full expectation of saying: "No, this ship is not for us". She quickly won us over and found many areas of Zuiderdam to be quite beautiful and we truly had two wonderful weeks aboard. Good enough that we now hold docs to return next month for another set of b-to-b's.

This is not to say we shall abandon cruising on Rotterdam, Zaandam, Maasdam or the other "dam" ships. We are currently booked to return to Maasdam in November and Rotterdam in March. But, we shall probably rotate a bit. Sometimes an "S" sister or such; sometimes a Vista.
